My husband and I will begin TTC in 2018, so I’ve been working on collecting names for most of 2017 because that’s just who I am. My husband likes reeeeaaalllly different names than I do. His ideal daughter would be named [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_f]Sabra[/name_f], which I told him sounds like a prescription drug (apologies to anyone with this name.) Our sons would have been [name_m]Axl[/name_m] [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] and [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u] had he had the sole decision. As you can tell he’s got a thing for X/Z names. FWIW, his name is [name_m]Dave[/name_m], lmao.

With our first son, my husband really wanted [name_m]Xander[/name_m] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (nms). Eventually we agreed on [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. He really liked [name_m]Eli[/name_m] for our second son, so I agreed to that as long as his full name was [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. Compromise has been key in naming our kids. We’ve never had to deal with girl names but I know it’s going to be harder than boy names were. He just hates frou-frou, ultra feminine, fluffy names and I am okay with most of them (think [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], etc.)

I’m going to include my list that he has “approved” and the few names he also likes and I’d love your feedback on it and I’d especially love any bad-ass, non-conventional-but-also-not-totally-weird suggestions. Right now, the only name we agree on is [name_f]Nova[/name_f], but it’s really popular.

It’s just more popular than we’d like. We aren’t really against using it, but if we can find a name we both love that is less popular then we’d prefer that.

I notice with your kids names so that your husband mostly gets the middle spot or the nickname. So for me I think he should get his first name pick. [name_f]Jinx[/name_f] isn’t great but [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] or [name_u]Devon[/name_u] would work. @wittyusername103, I would never use a first name that he didn’t also love and agree to, so he has just as much say in it as I do. It’s a compromise, and if he really hated [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], we would have chosen something entirely different because he wouldn’t want to use [name_m]Eli[/name_m] knowing that I don’t really like it. [name_m]Trust[/name_m] me, he’s as stubborn and vocal as it comes, lmao. He isn’t going to just let me choose a name for our kids without his opinion. Like I said he’d love to have three kids named [name_m]Axl[/name_m] [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u], and [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_f]Sabra[/name_f] but he knows I wouldn’t love it at all so he’s happy to go another route. If push comes to shove and he ~hates~ everything I suggest, then we’ll fall back on [name_f]Nova[/name_f] :slight_smile:
