Brighton?

Wondering what you berries think of [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]? Rating, explanations of opinions, anything

I’ve gone back and forth on this name for years… I picture a sweet, handsome and smart little man…

Thank you!

I think of [name_u]Brighton[/name_u], which is a lovely seaside town, [name_m]Britain[/name_m]'s gay capital, very nice place. It doesn’t seem like a human name to me, though.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any connection with [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]?

I love the name [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] and nn [name_u]Bright[/name_u]. My exposure to it was on the tv show Everwood, where [name_u]Chris[/name_u] [name_m]Pratt[/name_m] played a character named [name_u]Bright[/name_u]. I guess I hesitate on whether it’s usable for real life though, or if it adds pressure like names like [name_u]Win[/name_u], [name_m]Beau[/name_m], [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], even [name_f]Grace[/name_f] to a certain extent. I don’t think the connection to [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] [name_f]England[/name_f] would be familiar to most Americans, or seen as a cause for concern even if they are aware.

I love it!

I don’t know anything about [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] [name_f]England[/name_f] and don’t have any other connection to it. It’s just a name to me right now

I’ve never heard of the tv show either

it’s an old show and wasn’t on tv that long. It’s just the only time I’ve seen [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]/[name_u]Bright[/name_u] used as a name and I really loved it.

There’s a guy at work called [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]. We live about 40mins from [name_u]Brighton[/name_u], [name_f]England[/name_f] so I did raise an eyebrow at it at first but it seems totally normal to me now I know somebody called that iykwim?

Considering a lot of my family come from [name_u]Brighton[/name_u], I can’t think of it as a name. For me it’s too linked to the place (and I’m not overly fond of most place names).

If it were used as a name I would imagine a very flamboyant little boy who loves dressing up and theatre, again probably linked to my knowledge of [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] the place.

I think it’s cute. I see it as both a name and a place. My friend has a two year old named [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] and it suits him.

This is one of my favorite boy names. I tend to like softer sounding boy names ([name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], etc.) and this fits that bill.

I’m aware (now) of the place [name_u]Brighton[/name_u], but because my first exposure to this name was on the show The [name_f]Nanny[/name_f], it’s a total boys name.

Anyway, I love it!

Absolutely agreed :).

[name_u]Brighton[/name_u] has been on my own lists.

Middle ideas: [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]

When I first saw it I had a crush on it, for a boy or a girl, but now I can’t get past the verb to brighten, so it’s harder for me to hear it as a name.

Same, it’s a town to me.

I think it’s a very bold, but handsome choice!
