[name_f]Philomina[/name_f] - a beautiful name with a cool meaning, and cool nicknames like [name_f]Mena[/name_f] or even [name_u]Phil[/name_u]. Not on the 2015 or 2016 list of the top 1000 baby names in the U.S.

[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] - [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] has gained popularity, why not [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]? Not on the 2015 or 2016 list of the top 1000 baby names in the U.S.

[name_f]Myrna[/name_f] is interesting! I like it a lot & a new one for me. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is nice but feels very modern to me. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] doesn’t seem that dated either. I also don’t love or hate [name_f]Selah[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Melisande[/name_f] to [name_f]Millicent[/name_f].
[name_f]Florentina[/name_f] or [name_u]Florentine[/name_u] to [name_f]Florence[/name_f].
Prefer [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f] to [name_f]Jamesina[/name_f].

My favorites are
[name_f]Bala[/name_f] - it is a Turkish/Turkic name that means child and is listed on my list
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Philomena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]

Maybe ~
[name_f]Philomena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]

I like a lot of these as well! The one syllable I like are:

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Francine[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Hester[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Philomena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]

Personally, I prefer [name_f]Tasmin[/name_f] to [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] (usually, though I do occasionally prefer [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]).

You’ve hit on a few of my favorites! [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] was my #1 pick for a girl. It’s so pretty and [name_f]Essie[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] are both great nicknames. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] was also on my list, but no way would my husband go for it.

I’m dying for a resurgence of [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. Sigh.

In total agreement on:

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Hester[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] to [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] though.

It’s worth noting, that some of these names are ‘back’ in other countries, [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is very ‘hot’ on the [name_f]England[/name_f] & [name_m]Wales[/name_m] lists, and while [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] is not as high on that list as [name_f]Florence[/name_f], it’s still heard there.

I love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], too! There were a few names I had to cut from this list because there were too many characters, almost double what was allowed, and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] was one of them! [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] is beautiful, but I can’t fully appreciate it, because when I was a child, I thought my slightly scary uncle looked like her. Years later, he turned out to be gay, so I guess it makes sense. But even his hair was like her’s, only brown! I once told my mother about that comparison I made as a small child and she started laughing so hard, so.I guess I wasn’t the only one who thought that. Still, though, I can’t think of that name without thinking of that memory, it’s just a little odd for me.

I love…

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_u]Malin[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] (one of my very favorites!)
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
