I’ve posted pretty much this exact list before, but I’d love to know what other Brits think of these names! If it helps, we live in the South [name_f]East[/name_f]. Our families prefer classic names such as [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], etc., but we find that we prefer slightly rarer names. Here are our current choices:
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Eva[/name_f])
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] (maybe nn [name_f]Vera[/name_f])
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] / [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] (I don’t know which one I prefer!)
If non-Brits are also allowed to comment, this Australian would love to put in a vote for [name_f]Verity[/name_f], with [name_f]Vera[/name_f] as runner-up.
I think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], and [name_f]Verity[/name_f] are my favourites too, and it’s nice to see that others like them!
I only specified Brits because naming style over here is very different to [name_u]America[/name_u], and it seems like most berries are American, but everyone’s opinions are appreciated!
Another Aussie here - I also have to vote for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] & [name_f]Verity[/name_f]! I think Aussie naming style is closer to UK style than USA.
I’m technically not a Britberry, but I’ve lived in the UK and my husband’s British, so I’ll reply anyway
I absolutely adore [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] is lovely too, but I prefer [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]. Personally I’d use [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] rather that [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] because the latter doesn’t sound very good in my own language, but if I lived in the UK I’d go with [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f].
I also like [name_f]Antonia[/name_f].
Not a big fan of the others. I want to like [name_f]Vera[/name_f], but to be honest I’ve never quite liked it, and since a few years it reminds me of the ITV crime series with the same name.
Hello I live in the South [name_u]West[/name_u] and my family have a relatively classic naming style ([name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m], etc.)
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] or [name_f]Vera[/name_f] as I still think they’re fairly dated in [name_m]Britain[/name_m], however, I absolutely adore [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Verity[/name_f] - [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] and [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] are lovely names as well but a little clunky so I’d personally use them as middles
P.S. Australian naming style is (from what I’ve seen) far closer to British than to American so it’s no surprise really that we’ve all picked out the same names
Another Britberry here, I’m going to have to say [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]! I love how it flows and it sounds beautiful. A lovely stand alone name with plenty of nickname options if wanted e.g [name_f]Gen[/name_f], [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] or [name_f]Genna[/name_f]
My favourites on your list are [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]. My least favourites would be [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]. There’s nothing wrong with them, they’re just not my style.
I’m from the UK and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] would be my top choices. They’re beautiful and have lots of nn potential.
Of the others I would rule out [name_f]Vera[/name_f] - too old lady. My first association would be [name_f]Vera[/name_f] Duckworth and my second the ITV series ‘[name_f]Vera[/name_f]’.
I do like nn [name_m]Tru[/name_m] for [name_f]Verity[/name_f] but it comes across as a bit ‘upper class, toff’ as does [name_f]Augusta[/name_f].
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], I find it quite dated.
I like [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f], it’s got that old world charm to it - a name you’d expect to find in an [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_u]Christie[/name_u] novel or a [name_f]Betty[/name_f] Neels! I also like nn [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] (I’d use it as a nn, that way you get both!) but is the [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] association too strong?
I’m an American (Anglophile!) and these names are my style so I would definitely suggest [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]! Followed by [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Verity[/name_f].
I’m from [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]London[/name_u], and everyone of these names is on my (incredibly long) list! - apart from [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f], but [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f] is there.
I’d order them [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]. All are gorgeous names that I’d love to meet!
Thanks everyone for your replies! I’ve consulted with people I know too and it seems the overwhelming favourites, both in real life and on here, are [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]! Now to find middle names
