We’re having our first child in [name]March[/name] and my husband and I can’t seem to agree on any names. We live in the U.S. but Dad is British and I’d like to pick a name that reflects his British heritage. My husband loves [name]Rupert[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], and [name]Sebastian[/name] but I can’t seem to get on board. Any other suggestions for British baby boy names?
Also, just to add a little more color (since some of these would probably be suggested) -
I love [name]Oliver[/name] but it’s off the table because our close friends used that name.
My husband doesn’t like [name]Alastair[/name], but other names he likes that I’m warmer to are [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] (nn [name]Theo[/name]).
Ideally we’d like something with British flavor and unique - not too popular but not so unique as to be really “out-there”.
A few names more popular in [name]Britain[/name] than the US:
[name]Harry[/name]
[name]Alfie[/name]
[name]Archie[/name]
[name]Lewis[/name]/[name]Louis[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name]
[name]Toby[/name] ([name]Tobias[/name] maybe?)
[name]Kai[/name]
[name]Gregor[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Ewan[/name]/[name]Euan[/name]
[name]Finn[/name] (plus [name]Finley[/name], et. all)
[name]Kenzie[/name] (not sure this would work on a boy here, but I love it and it’s in the [name]Brit[/name] top 100)
[name]Luca[/name]
and of course [name]Jack[/name], which was #1 until this year, but it’s in the US top 50 so I’m not sure if you’re interested.
Good [name]Luck[/name]!
