My husband and I live in the United States and have fairly unique names. We are looking for a name for our first baby girl that is unique or a little offbeat. However, we want people to be able to pronounce it easily by looking at it. My husband’s grandmother is from [name_f]England[/name_f] and I’ve been searching for names that somewhat fit in that heritage to give our little girl some meaning and not just a totally “out there” name.
I really like the name [name_u]Britton[/name_u]. I know this can be masculine as well, but I really see it as a girl’s name. It fits the category of unique (not in the top 1000) and plays into our English heritage (it is a British surname). I also like that it can be shortened to [name_u]Britt[/name_u] as a nickname and seems suitable for a young girl or adult.
What are some thoughts about this name? Also any ideas for middle names? I would like something floral, but my husband doesn’t like [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
Some other names we’ve tossed around are [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] but neither of these have felt like the ‘one’ as much as [name_u]Britton[/name_u].
Thank you!!
