Brother and Sister Berry: Garrett and ?

I have two characters, a boy and a girl. The girl is the boy’s older sister.

[name_m]Garrett[/name_m] is definitely the boy’s name, but I like to have middle names for my younger characters or main-est characters. Here are some ideas I’ve had, keeping in mind the last name of [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for them and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is absolutely out:

[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Ryder[/name_m]

I have several names in mind for his sister, be them first or middle names, and they are:

[name_f]Bridgit[/name_f] (in any variation, but most likely as [name_f]Bridgit[/name_f])
[name_f]Cate[/name_f] (probably not short for [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], so most likely best as a middle name)
[name_f]Gretchen[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Lia[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Noella[/name_f]

I have come up with many combinations of these names but I’d like to know which ones you like best. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

I think that [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] and [name_m]Garret[/name_m] make a charming sibset. [name_m]Garret[/name_m] and [name_f]Bridgit[/name_f] are a close second.

For a fn/mn combo, I think that [name_m]Garret[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Berry[/name_u] has the best flow. For the sister, I think that [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] as a first works well with the rest of the names as a middle, save [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] because [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] ends with an ‘N’. I do think that [name_f]Bridgit[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a nice name, but I don’t know how well it sounds with the last name [name_u]Berry[/name_u]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

[name_m]Garret[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] is nice

I like [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] best and [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] second.

I also like
[name_m]Garret[/name_m] and [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_m]Garret[/name_m] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Garret[/name_m] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_m]Garret[/name_m] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_m]Garret[/name_m] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_m]Garret[/name_m] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] (maybe short for [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]?)

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] it helps!

Thank you both so much!

My choices:

[name_m]Garrett[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m] [name_u]Noah[/name_u]

[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (?)
[name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] (?)
[name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] [name_f]Hanna[/name_f] (???)
[name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] [name_m]Sampson[/name_m] (?)
[name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u] (??)

For some reason, when I first read the title of your thread ("[name_m]Garrett[/name_m] and ?") I instantly thought, [name_f]MINETTE[/name_f]. I don’t know, it’s the first name I thought of when I thought of a sister for [name_m]Garrett[/name_m].

Good luck on your writing!

[name_m]Garret[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m], for sure. It flows into the first and last names much more nicely than [name_u]Noah[/name_u] or [name_m]Ryder[/name_m].

As for his sister, I’m a bit more iffy. None of the names really speak to me. [name_f]Bridgit[/name_f] has a strong meaning/identity, but I’ve always found its cute/squeaky sound to be at odds with its powerful roots. [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] is probably my favourite, but I don’t like it with [name_m]Garret[/name_m], since they’re both two syllables around the same vowel sound. [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] will always be a difficult name for me aesthetically, as when I hear it I can only think of words like wrench, retch, and wretched, all of which are pretty horrid associations :\

What about [name_f]Nola[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Noella[/name_f]? Personally I think [name_f]Nola[/name_f] sounds very nice with both [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_m]Garret[/name_m], perhaps as [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] if you want a middle name.

Did you have a “tone” in mind for the character? It’s tricky to recommend when the goal could be anything from a tough no-nonsense girl to a sweet shy one.
