So I’m pregnant (YAY!) but freaking out a bit because I seem to be hitting a wall on boy names. I should mention that we do not know the sex of the baby yet, but we do have a girl name lined up. I am having a bit of anxiety about the fact that it could be a boy and my husband and I don’t have any boy names that are really clicking.

A big part of this is because our first child, who is two, is named [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m]. (We pronounce it ‘uh-LAR-rik’) My husband especially loves this name because, according to him, it ‘sounds like someone who could punch you in the face’ (I think he’s trying to say the name is very strong sounding, I agree :stuck_out_tongue: ) The problem with a such a strong sounding name is we want another strong name to match it. This is really important to both of us.

I absolutely love the fact that [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] is not in the top 1000 and would like a first name that is also not in the top 1000 for this baby. We do have a middle name we like a lot, ([name_m]Draco[/name_m]) but I’m afraid if we bump that to a first name it will have negative connotations for everyone who meets the baby. [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] IS a blond, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this one is also, and so having a blond [name_m]Draco[/name_m] running around is just asking for trouble. But what in the world sounds good with a middle name of [name_m]Draco[/name_m]??

Here is the short list of names my husband and I like right now - just not sure any of them work with [name_m]Draco[/name_m] (which isn’t set 100% of course, we’re pretty open since we have time, but we both really do like [name_m]Draco[/name_m]).

[name_m]Liev[/name_m] (I like this more than my husband does lol)
[name_m]Theon[/name_m] (which honestly, almost isn’t usable, but I still love it)

So far this is all my husband and I like, and none of them feel like ‘it’. And to be honest with you, I’m pretty sure my husband doesn’t ‘like’ any of these super much, it’s just better to have something on the list, right? At least that’s how I view his opinion at this point in time.

Anyway I would appreciate any input anyone might have for some names to consider. There have been lots of names that have been put on the list and then taken off, but it would really be great to hear some input from you guys!

Here in the southern U.S., all of your names would cause the child to be bullied daily. I would go with some of the less unusual names that columbiacharm (above) listed:

First thing that comes to mind is something Irish since it would have a similar sound to your first boy’s name (or Scandinavian). A mythological name would also work, since you mentioned [name_m]Appolo[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m]. :slight_smile: [name_m]Draco[/name_m] is a cool name but I agree with you, him being blond would not help. Definitely avoid [name_m]Theon[/name_m], as cool of a name as it is. What about [name_m]Theron[/name_m] [name_m]Draco[/name_m]?
