Big brothers, Alder [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]Ross[/name_m] & Evren [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] might be welcoming a brother. What name would you pair with them?
Both boys’ double middle names are honor names. Alder’s honoring our fathers and Evren’s honoring our mothers (using maiden names). It’s likely we will keep the double middle name tradition, but are more open to suggestions outside our own family tree with baby number three…with that said we do have a family pairing contender if it works with the first name we choose and that is “[name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_u]Glen[/name_u].”
We had [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_u]Glen[/name_u] as an option but I’m not sure that’s it, so we are open to more!
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] for a boy is a little out there. But it is close enough to the familiar sound of [name_u]Noah[/name_u] to not seem too strange.
Anyway, here are a couple suggestions that I think could work for you:
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m] - It’s like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] but strays from the feminine quality the name has. Alder gives me tree vibes and Evren gives me mountain vibes (in terms of the names, I mean) and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] strikes me as very space themed. I think [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] is grounded more on earth, but it doesn’t conjure any particular type of nature feel for me. I know a [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] who goes by Nøl, which is either needlessly edgy of him or genuinely helps with the pronunciation of his name. I don’t personally know. But I do know that you’ve got [name_m]Soren[/name_m] on your signature list and it’s typically spelled like Søren.
If the due date allows, [name_u]November[/name_u] might even be on the table. I wouldn’t go forcing this on a [name_u]January[/name_u] baby, though.
[name_u]Ira[/name_u] - I like this one paired with the others but I don’t have much to say about it. It’s got that A ending like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] while all at once being unmistakably male.
[name_m]Orson[/name_m] - You seem to like two syllable names starting with vowels for your boys. I also noticed you have [name_m]Orin[/name_m] on the list in your signature, but I feel [name_m]Orin[/name_m] and Evren sound a bit too similar. I know [name_m]Orson[/name_m] ends with an N as well, but it sounds unique enough stacked up against Evren.
[name_m]Otis[/name_m] or [name_m]Otto[/name_m] could almost nearly work but they lack compared to the uniqueness of Alder and Evren.
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] is another name that falls a little flat but is still in the general realm of what’s gonna do it for you.
[name_u]Abbott[/name_u] - Wouldn’t want one of your kids’ names to go without two T’s in it. I’m going a little pattern crazy at this point, huh?
First off, your boys have lovely names. I really like how both have 5 syllables, with 2 syllable first names. Casper Glen works well with that (btw, I love Casper!), so here are some other two syllable names:
Emmett
Atlas
Terence
Sawyer
Bennett
Orson
Asher
Beckett
Owen
Fletcher
Holden
Otis
Declan
Silas
Hudson
Ezra
Arthur
Nolan
Lachlan
Otto
Cato
Rowan
Arlo
I can’t say I’m particularly fond of Nova for a boy. It seems very feminine, and out of place next to your boys
I was thinking [name_f]Nova[/name_f] bridged the gender name gap a bit and fit well as a unisex. I tend to like “soft” “masculine” names …but the “a” ending tilts it into girl territory a bit more perhaps.
Alder is def. tree vibes but Evren actually means “the universe” so [name_f]Nova[/name_f] fits right in with him. I agree, I’m not sure it’s “the one” tho.
Eep. I should have updated my signature a bit as many of those were contenders in 2014 when we were thinking up names for Alder
[name_u]Ira[/name_u] is super cute!
You’re right I [name_f]DO[/name_f] like two syllable vowel names! [name_m]Orson[/name_m] was a favorite of mine but I can’t seem to get my husband on board.
[name_u]Abbott[/name_u]’s interesting! And one to consider possibly.
Aw thank you! I also love [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_u]Glen[/name_u] - Alder almost got named this. I wish it didn’t end with “Er” or I’d be inclined to use this for number three…
Of your suggestions I loved:
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] (but we had a dog named that…)
[name_m]Orson[/name_m] (but I can’t get my husband on board)
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] (I go back and forth on this name)
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] (this is cute and fits the softness of my other two)
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] (but this is their cousin’s name)
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (possibly too close to Alder but it’s darling)
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] (cute)
[name_u]Cato[/name_u] (interesting - I haven’t heard this one before)
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] (cute! But I’m feeling the popularity of this one in our area)
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] (sooo cute)
If that’s the case, how do you feel about [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]? It’s quite similar to [name_m]Casper[/name_m], but obviously doesn’t have the -er, so is not similar to Alder. It still works as an honour, but some people are very strict about keeping to the original name. I’d also usually suggest [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], but that’s further from [name_m]Casper[/name_m]
I like the sound of Otway with your boys names, and Otway [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_u]Glen[/name_u] flows nicely to me. I like the idea of sticking to a vowel initial too.
How about [name_m]Novak[/name_m] with [name_f]Nova[/name_f] as a nn? It does run on a bit with [name_m]Casper[/name_m] though.
Others that give me a similar feeling as Alder and Evren: [name_u]Tully[/name_u], [name_m]Amos[/name_m], [name_m]Idris[/name_m], [name_m]Leif[/name_m]/[name_m]Leife[/name_m]
Ooo! These were all great suggestions and make for a good pairing with big brothers.
I love:
Otway - the vowel beginning, two syllables, unique enough to stand with the others
[name_m]Novak[/name_m] (our last name starts with K so also kind of runs into that too…unfortunately but that was a great suggestion)
[name_u]Tully[/name_u] - it’s a little more playful but equally cute
[name_m]Amos[/name_m] - is handsome / there are many girls of my generation in our area that get called [name_m]Amos[/name_m] as a nn not a deal breaker just a slight hesitation there (I can think of two)
[name_m]Idris[/name_m] - this is new to me but I’m digging it I’ll need to find out more about it!
[name_m]Leife[/name_m] -probably my least fav. But still a great suggestion!
I like the suggestion of [name_u]Ira[/name_u]! Wanted to throw [name_m]Ivo[/name_m] out there - pronounced eevo, sometimes eye-vo. It means “yew wood, archer”
