Does anyone have any name suggestions for [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]Brendon[/name_m]'s baby brother? Here are my initial thoughts/ways to approach:
“O” Names
I’ve been stuck on vowel names. We’ve used ‘A’ and ‘E’ and now I’m a bit obsessed with ‘O’.
[name_u]Orion[/name_u] (a family name, pronounced differently then usual: OR-EE-UN)
[name_m]Ozias[/name_m]/[name_m]Osias[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] (I like the sound of it and that it has a cute nickname)
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]/Oakland
Surnames
Both [name_m]Archer[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m]) and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Ever[/name_u]) are more traditionally used as surnames. So they fit into the “handsome surname, zippy nickname” category. Any more ideas from this category?
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
And then there is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Which doesn’t fit any sort of theme with the other two, but my husband and I both seem to really like it. I adore the nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. It is certainly more common then the other two names (i.e. I know at least 2 other FB friends with a baby [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]), but I don’t really care that much. Mostly I just think it’s a really handsome, classic name… but does it fit?
The middle name will likely be [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] (my husband’s middle), but we are definitely open to suggestions.
Another thing to consider is our challenging last name: Cox. You’ll have fun thinking of all the names I CAN’T name my son.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is great. It seems like you love it, and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is fantastic. So what if it isn’t a surname name or doesn’t start with a vowel? [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] make a handsome trio.
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m] was my first thought. It fits the surname vibe you’ve established with your oldest boys. And you’ve kind of got a subtle nature theme as well which obviously [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] fits. Not sure about a zippy nickname though.
Of your O names, I think [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] fits best popularity wise as well as nn wise. [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_u]Ever[/name_u], and [name_u]Oak[/name_u]/[name_m]Oaks[/name_m]/Oakey would be nice.
[name_m]Orson[/name_m] might also be a nice way to continue the vowel trend. And you could call him [name_m]Bear[/name_m] or [name_m]Son[/name_m]/[name_u]Sonny[/name_u].
[name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_u]Ever[/name_u], and [name_m]Bear[/name_m]/[name_u]Sonny[/name_u]. Super cute.
I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] sounds great with [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u]. And [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is so adorable! It goes great with [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_u]Ever[/name_u] too.
Any way you choose to go, I don’t think you can go wrong. Good luck finding the name!
I adore [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]! Despite its differences stylistically, I actually think it fits great with [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. Of your O names, I like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]. I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] & [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], while very different, are both good choices with your sibset. Personally, I would choose [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u]!
I really like your naming style. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is super cute! I also like O names. My favourite being [name_m]Otis[/name_m] with the shortened form of [name_m]Odie[/name_m]. [name_m]Otis[/name_m] Cox might have too similar sound at the end. I also love [name_m]Odin[/name_m] with the short form [name_m]Odie[/name_m].
[name_m]Orson[/name_m] is a very cute idea! The nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is adorable! I had even considered that as an nn for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (like [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], but just [name_m]Bear[/name_m]). We just don’t want any little kids making the connection with his last name and calling him [name_m]Bear[/name_m] Cox :o Although, I don’t think people typically pair affectionate nicknames with a person’s last name.
Also I like that [name_m]Orson[/name_m] is English in origin. We are Americans living in Spain. Our family heritage is mostly English (plus a little Irish and [name_m]German[/name_m]). Thus, I have struggled to feel confident in choosing a Spanish name. We are a very blonde family and it feels a bit unauthentic to call my son [name_m]Santiago[/name_m] (even though I can certainly appreciate the beauty in the name). That being said, I also feel a bit unauthentic using a name that has a strong connection with any other European country. For example, [name_m]Odin[/name_m] is an adorable ‘O’ name, but it is very commonly known to be Scandinavian. We know quite a few Scandinavians, and I wonder if they would find it odd that we Americans are using one of “their” names.
Thoughts on this? Am I just overthinking? You can see how I have spun myself in circles about a million times
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] are such wonderful names!!
From your list, I love [name_u]Orion[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]; [name_u]Orion[/name_u] obviously giving you that less popular edge too.
For surname/zippy nn suggestions: [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] ([name_m]Wes[/name_m]), [name_m]Edison[/name_m] ([name_u]Teddy[/name_u]), [name_m]Olivier[/name_m] (Oli), [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] ([name_u]Sonny[/name_u]) or [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] ([name_m]Eli[/name_m]) might be worth considering.
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Irving[/name_m]
[name_m]Upton[/name_m]
[name_u]Urban[/name_u]
[name_m]Odin[/name_m]
[name_m]Orel[/name_m]
[name_m]Oxford[/name_m] - maybe not so much with the last name, too rhyming?
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
I don’t think people take much note of where names from. As a teacher myself I teach very blond haired kids with names like [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_m]Teo[/name_m], Sehana and [name_f]Neve[/name_f]. [name_m]Odin[/name_m] gets my vote!
[name_u]Orion[/name_u] is a name I love personally, but [name_u]Theo[/name_u]/[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is really great too! What’s funny is you want a name that has an “O”, and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] has “The O” sound that you are looking for! ;D
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] are fabulous together! From your list, I love [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for you. [name_m]Olin[/name_m] comes to mind as a great choice as well.
