we are expecting #2 which is kind of a miracle and probably the last miracle… so i am really stressing out about the ‘completeness’ of the sibset. if i was planning to have five or six kids to name, i would be thinking about maybe opening up future style choices by going in a related-yet-different direction with #2. as it is, i want it to feel really cohesive, like ‘oh of course, that is the perfect name to go with birdie.’ i honestly don’t even care if they are really matchy because with just two, i wouldn’t feel pressured to keep the matchiness going, you know? like, if #2 is a girl, the frontrunner is fern, which is very matchy in both style and sound. these are some of my first ideas but im pretty early in the process just to warn you… middle names are family
birdie margaret and…
jasper john
bennett john
rufus john
bruno michael
jude michael
moses michael
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is so lovely!! Loving [name_f]Fern[/name_f] for a sister too
With [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], I really like [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] and [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u]. They both have that kind of quaint, vintage vibe while still being fun. [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] are great too!
I have always had a soft spot for [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] and I like it next to [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], so since you don’t mind arguable matchiness (in the form of a shared first initial) I’d lean toward [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] here. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is great as well.
I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] is cool too. [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] is nice but it reminds me of the artist [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] Johns, which isn’t an issue I suppose. It’s not at all a negative association. Whilst [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is my favourite name (it’s my son’s name), I think with [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] I like [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] or [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] best. [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] has the quirkiness of [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] whilst [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] has its spunk.
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] feel perfect with [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] Margaret!!
I slightly lean towards [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] for the nickname JJ but if I had to pick one as a stand alone it is handsome down [name_u]Jude[/name_u] !
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] feel cohesive, & nature inspired so if I’m trying to pick for the pairing it’s [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought before I read your list of options was [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_m]Hal[/name_m]! They both have those 20th century vintage cute (but not cutesy) vibes and I absolutely love [name_m]Hal[/name_m] as a nn for [name_u]Henry[/name_u] or by itself.
Of your list I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] work really well, but actually they’re all great!
ooh thank u for the suggestions! i love otto and am kind of obsessed with rupert now. birdie and rupert sound so cute together… and rupert has a lot of what i love about rufus but with a slightly more whimsical feel. im going to add rupert john to the list and see what my partner thinks.
you know, my partner really likes henry and i do as well but its pretty popular and i didnt feel like it fit with birdie… but hal is absolutely perfect. i feel like birdie and hal could be a sibset in a novel set in the 1950s with really well-named characters. plus we both work in tech and i think a little nod to the AI in a space odyssey is kind of cute and fitting. *adds to list*
Congratulations, and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is such a fun, incredible name to find a sibling for!
I think [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] are so fun. The initials match, which could be a drawback if that bothers you. But [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m], that is an unbeatable sibset!
[name_f]My[/name_f] other favourite is [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_u]Moses[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_u]Moses[/name_u] are an unexpected pairing imo, but the individuality of the two names makes them cohesive. Plus [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_u]Moe[/name_u] would be so darling.
