Is it okay to name [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]'s younger brother [name_m]Edward[/name_m]? We like traditional names. Maybe it’s just me but doesn’t it feel “wrong” when the younger brother has a more serious name? We’re going to call him [name_m]Edward[/name_m] cause we hate [name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], [name_m]Ned[/name_m], [name_m]Ted[/name_m] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. What do you guys think? Am I overthinking?
It is fine. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] work and unless they are jolting together (which they are not) I think you should use what you love. They are complimentary to each other which is much better than too matchy.
Charlie and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] feel very classic and fit well together
I like them together. Similar vibe.
I do think if you “hate” [name_m]Ed[/name_m] and [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] however it is not the name for you
I agree, it works. They’re both lovely classic names. It’s more important that you love a name than that it goes “perfectly” with big brother.
I think it would be better if you could find a traditional name with a nickname you like for it, so that they can have that in common. It feels a bit strange when one kid mostly goes by their nickname and the other goes by their full name. What about [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] with the nickname [name_u]Theo[/name_u]? [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] would work nicely.
Hi there.
Charlie & [name_m]Edward[/name_m] are nice together. And I think that it’s fine if [name_m]Charles[/name_m] has a nn & [name_m]Edward[/name_m] doesn’t. But if you guys really dislike [name_m]Ed[/name_m]/Eddie, I wouldn’t use [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. You’re bound to get people calling him that occasionally.
Hope this helps.
Charlie & [name_m]Edward[/name_m] sound totally fine and actually very cute to me, but if you hate [name_m]Ed[/name_m]/Eddie that much [name_m]Edward[/name_m] might get those occasionally.
Agreed. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom hates the nickname for my brother’s name, but he’s been going by the nn since middle school. So, if you hate the nickname, I might pick a different name all together.
Yes! Yes, yes, yes! They fit SO well together!
