I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and DH and I cannot decide on a name! I am a 1st generation Greek American and our DD, Chrysanthi (NN [name_f]Ani[/name_f]) [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] has a super Greek name. I like a lot of traditional boy names that are not exclusively Greek ([name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m] to name a few), but I feel strange having one child with a very exotic name and one without. The only Greek boy name that I like so far is [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m] (NN [name_m]Leo[/name_m]), but my husband is still on the fence about it. He is [name_m]German[/name_m]-Irish but doesn’t have any strong feelings about his cultural background or naming our son after his family members. Are there any Greek boy names that you all love? Or should I not worry about “matching” names? Please help!!
I absolutely love Chrysanthi [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]! What a beautiful name
I don’t personally think it matters if your children’s name are not perfectly matching, especially as you and your husband have different/mixed heritage. I think mixing it up would be seen as less strange. You could also consider using a greek middle name to tie the sibset together.
Modern/ancient greek boy names I like:
[name_m]Leander[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_m]Ilias[/name_m]/[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_u]Alexis[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_m]Ares[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]/[name_m]Theon[/name_m]/[name_u]Theo[/name_u]/[name_m]Theron[/name_m]
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m]

[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]German[/name_m] names you might like:
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]/[name_m]Myles[/name_m]
[name_u]Alwin[/name_u]
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
Thanks! We had her name picked out at 20 weeks I think haha.
It’s funny that you mentioned [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] as a name because I have the name “[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]” on my list as a potential first/middle combo.
Thanks for your help wildmoonchild!
I’m also Greek and have a really Greek name. If I was a boy, I would be [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] or [name_m]Demetrius[/name_m]. My grandfather name was [name_m]Basilio[/name_m]. Variations of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]George[/name_m] always sound really Greek to me, and they are not too out-there.
But, my oldest uncle and my dad have really Greek names and my youngest uncle doesn’t. It has never been weird, whatsoever. They are just names, and they’ll grow and they’ll stop being a sibset to be individual human beings. So, I don’t personally think that if the names don’t match, you shouldn’t use them.
Haha, Amazing! [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is one of my all time favourites and [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is just lovely!

[name_m]Christophoros[/name_m] ([name_m]Christopher[/name_m])
[name_m]Giorgos[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Gio[/name_m]) ([name_m]George[/name_m])
Erotocritos (nn [name_m]Otto[/name_m]?)
