[name_m]Hi[/name_m] All. I am expecting a baby boy (our first) and we have two girls, [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. We loved their names because both feel (to us) strong yet beautiful and somewhat unusual, plus both are Shakespearean.
We are now considering some other options from [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] plays and are down to [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] and [name_m]Justice[/name_m], plus we both like the name [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] (though the latter is not from any [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] play).
Any thoughts on what is the best option? Nickname for [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] would probably be [name_m]Cash[/name_m], though we would pronounce it “Cass-e-us”. [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] has an obvious nickname though not sure about [name_m]Justice[/name_m] in terms of a shorter version.
I love [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] with your girls! [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] would be a great runner up (nicknames could also be [name_m]Cass[/name_m], [name_m]Kit[/name_m], or Caz).
I really like [name_m]Maximus[/name_m]. In my opinion, [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] and [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] are too similar. Both beginning with the letter C, three syllables and heavy with the S sound.
A Shakespearean sibset! Oh, how brilliant! [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] are so grand, I feel like [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] and [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] are the better pairings with them, but I worry that [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] would get confusing after a while. [name_f]My[/name_f] nephews have similarly sounding nicknames (0llie and Alf!e) and [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] feel a bit like that to me. I feel bad every time I call my nephew his brother’s name lol. [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] is my favorite of these names in general, but because of that, I’m wondering if [name_m]Justice[/name_m] or [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] would be the better option. Because of that… I think I’m actually voting for [name_m]Justice[/name_m]? I didn’t expect it, but it seems like the most distinctive, plus I love the idea of all three of them having a [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] name. I’m not sure about a nickname, maybe depending on the middle name, you could do something like [name_m]Justice[/name_m] [name_m]Lionel[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jules[/name_m] or [name_m]Justice[/name_m] [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jude[/name_m]?
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] are lovely!!
I like [name_m]Justice[/name_m] with them - [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] is good too just can’t decide if it’s a bit too close to [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] for me I think it could work though.
For [name_m]Justice[/name_m], nn [name_m]Jay[/name_m], [name_m]Jem[/name_m], [name_m]Joss[/name_m], [name_m]Judd[/name_m]?
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] - [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Lear[/name_m]
[name_m]Lysander[/name_m] - A Midsummer Night’s [name_f]Dream[/name_f]
[name_m]Laurence[/name_m] - [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_m]Antonio[/name_m] - The Merchant of [name_f]Venice[/name_f]
[name_m]Jaques[/name_m] - As You Like It
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m], definitely! [name_m]Justice[/name_m] feels very modern compared to [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], and [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] mostly makes me think of gluteus maximus.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite with [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] is [name_m]Cassius[/name_m]! Visually, [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] are similar, but they sound different enough said out loud to work well.
I don’t love [name_m]Justice[/name_m] with [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f].
I love Maximus with Cressida and Octavia the most! It has a Shakespearean feel too it even thought it isn’t and it is a very strong name while having soft sounds to it like both of your girls
I do like Cassius but I find it very close to Cressida. Had they been boy girl twins I think Cassius and Cressida are cute together, but with Octavia it just makes her stick out a lot more
I did a little googling myself and here are some you may like if you really want to keep the Shakespeare theme
Adrian
Antonio or Antony
Aragon (I have seen this used recently for boys!)
Benedict (Shakespeare’s character was Benedick)
Benvolio (a favourite of mine when it comes to Shakespearean names)
Cornelius
Demetrius
Fenton
Hector
Lysander
Marcellus
Oberon
Prospero (or even just Prosper which has a similar feel as Justice with both being word names)
Silvius
Titinius
Ulysses
You guys may also like Aurelius / Evander / Leander / Rafferty though they are not Shakespearean
