We found out yesterday its a BOY! Which is a shame only because we had some girl names we both were really loving and feel pretty ho hum about the boy list. So please… HELP US. Totally open to suggestions or thoughts on what we have.
[name_f]Sister[/name_f]: [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u] ([name_u]Lane[/name_u] is family name)
Parents [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] and [name_m]Austin[/name_m]
Potential honor/family names (MNs only): [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] and [name_u]Michael[/name_u] - I really dislike the former and the latter feels like a filler but this was DHs father’s name; [name_m]Philip[/name_m], [name_m]Zane[/name_m], Bry and Warnick also options
First names:
[name_m]Ford[/name_m] (my #1 - this was high on the list with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] too)
[name_m]Kellen[/name_m] (I’m feeling this more lately)
[name_m]Abram[/name_m] (more on this below)
Townsend
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] (more on this below)
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
Others lower on the list…
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Crosby[/name_m]
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
I had a thought about the initials [name_m]MAC[/name_m]. If we named him [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Abram[/name_m] C… or [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] C we could call him [name_m]Mac[/name_m]. We would be able to use the honor name, get a middle name that we actually like, and have a built in nn i do really like.
If this had been a girl she most likely would have been [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and we will very likely be having a third down the road.
I like [name_m]Abram[/name_m] and [name_m]Kellen[/name_m] best from your list. I like the [name_m]Mac[/name_m] idea but feel like he might just become [name_m]Mike[/name_m] if his first name is [name_u]Michael[/name_u]. I’m a fan of [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] which would be a good way to get to [name_m]Mac[/name_m] as a nickname. [name_m]Ford[/name_m] feels a little trendy to me but I could be wrong.
My favorites:
[name_m]Abram[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] or [name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Kellen[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] or Warnick
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] or [name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] or [name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
My default is to put michael in the middle but does it not feel like a generic filler to anyone else? maybe its just me. i feel like every little boy born lately is FN [name_u]Michael[/name_u] LN. That and at least 6 of my friends are married to [name_u]Michael[/name_u]/mike’s so its probably the number one repeated name in my world.
I do agree with you on [name_u]Michael[/name_u]. I know a lot of Mikes and a lot of men with [name_u]Michael[/name_u] as the middle name. [name_f]Honour[/name_f] names are a nice gesture, but you shouldn’t just stick a name in there that you don’t like or that doesn’t work. I really like your naming style and to be blunt, [name_u]Michael[/name_u] doesn’t really go with your choices. I wouldn’t put it as a first because other than you, no one will naturally get to the nickname of [name_m]Mac[/name_m]. Maybe a diminutive could work - [name_m]Mick[/name_m], [name_u]Micky[/name_u], [name_m]Mitch[/name_m], Mikhael, [name_u]Michel[/name_u], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], something like that?
I don’t like any of your top choices, if I can be really (too?) honest. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], I think that’s a really cool name that sounds strong and goes back all the way to Greek mythology. And then [name_m]Ford[/name_m]…[name_m]Kellen[/name_m]… meh? Townsend? “Hey Townsend, come here! Dinner is ready!” Eh, weird.
I feel like something really classic and elegant would work here, to carry the same weight as his sister’s name, and not get too edgy or trendy. As an example, something like [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] (doesn’t have to be Greek but I’m partial.) Sorry for being too honest haha [name_m]Just[/name_m] giving my opinion, in case it helps, I know my tastes may not be yours but as an outsider I would find [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and Townsend a weird combo.
Hah, no it’s fine we don’t love any of them either. I’d add [name_m]Ian[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] if popularity, friends kids, and husbands opinions could be excluded from consideration.
[name_m]Kellen[/name_m] jumps out at me from your first list as a great choice!
Maybe it’s too cutesy for your taste, but I like the idea of using [name_m]Zane[/name_m] from your list of middle name options, since it rhymes with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]'s middle name.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u] and [name_m]Kellen[/name_m] [name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Kellen[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] also sounds nice too, if that’s the middle name option with the most meaning for you.
I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Micah[/name_u] even though that’s apparently lower on your list. Here are the reasons why: great name in its own right; goes well with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] in my opinion; and I think it totally works as a variation on [name_u]Michael[/name_u] as an honor name. I’d probably use it as a first name, since I like it so much:
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_m]Zane[/name_m], for example
And this would also be a way to get to the initials [name_m]MAC[/name_m] if you want: [name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_m]Abram[/name_m] (personally I prefer [name_m]Abram[/name_m] to [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] out of your two “A” options)
Or you could use it in the middle in place of [name_u]Michael[/name_u], say [name_m]Kellen[/name_m] [name_u]Micah[/name_u] (I really do like [name_m]Kellen[/name_m]).
And since it looks like you might be open to other suggestions:
From [name_m]Kellen[/name_m]–> [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], [name_m]Soren[/name_m], [name_m]Killian[/name_m]/[name_m]Cillian[/name_m]
From [name_u]Micah[/name_u]–> [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], [name_m]Miles[/name_m]
I like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_m]Abram[/name_m] ([name_m]Bram[/name_m]!), [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]Micah[/name_u] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m].
My personal favourite is probably [name_u]Micah[/name_u] and that would also work as an honour name for a [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_f]IMO[/name_f], even in the middle. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought if [name_u]Michael[/name_u] seems too “filler” in the middle spot to you. You could even use [name_u]Micah[/name_u] nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m] - all the sounds are there.
I’d second the suggestions of [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] ([name_m]Mac[/name_m]), [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], [name_m]Cillian[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] for you - they all sound lovely.
For [name_m]MAC[/name_m], you could also do [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] or [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] [name_m]Abram[/name_m] (or the same thing with [name_u]Micah[/name_u]). [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is pretty boring as a first name, especially compared to [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. If you’re set on using an honor name, keep in mind that [name_u]Micah[/name_u] is a variant of [name_u]Michael[/name_u] so technically it would serve that purpose.
From your list, my favorites are [name_m]Abram[/name_m], [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]. I absolutely love [name_m]Zane[/name_m]; it’s versatile and would pair well with any of these as a middle.
