We’re entering the last few weeks before our second son arrives, and we have yet to settle on the right name. I’d appreciate some suggestions for a name that goes well with [name_m]Duncan[/name_m], which is big brother’s name. Here are some guidelines:
Our last name starts with K and rhymes with ‘or’, so names that end with a hard ‘c’ or rhyme are off the table. We also would like to avoid alliteration, so that takes out names that start with hard ‘c’ sounds as well. Last name is two syllables; I would prefer names more than one syllable.
Names overly popular in our area that we want to avoid: [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_m]Mateo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]Alex/name_u
Names we like but can’t use due to close family/friend overlap: [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]
Names I like but my husband doesn’t: [name_m]Gareth[/name_m], [name_m]Langston[/name_m], [name_m]McCoy[/name_m], [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
Names husband likes but I don’t as much: [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] (nice but too common)
Other ones we have considered:
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]–we like this but feel it might be a bit much
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]–nice enough but kind of plain
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m]/[name_m]Eamon[/name_m]–like these but they are more Scottish/Irish than we are
[name_u]Alden[/name_u]—people seem to have a hard time understanding this name, plus it looks a lot like [name_u]Aiden[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]–like but overly popular and ends with ‘c’
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]/[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]–trending over to the girls’ side?
Any other suggestions? We want something that’s not too out there or creative, but also want to stay out of the top 20 or so names. We also are not fans of super-trendy names, but prefer classic style.
I don’t think [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] is too much and it’s quite nice with [name_m]Duncan[/name_m]. Perhaps the similar [name_m]Angus[/name_m]?
I also like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] from your considerations. I personally consider these to be truly neutral names.
