My husband and I have had a pretty difficult time naming our children. He likes common popular names. I don’t disagree. they are good solid names, but his last name is [name_m]Smith[/name_m], and I don’t like the thought of my kid having such a repeated name. (this doesn’t bother him. his dad’s name is john and his brother had the #1 name of his year, [name_m]Mark[/name_m] and there were three mark smith’s in his CLASS). I like names that are little bit more unique
Anyway, for our first we compromised by finding a more unique full name with a common nickname.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (mostly called [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]).
Trying to find something in a similar vein for her upcoming brother.
His top names are [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (all top ten).
My top suggestion is [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] (nickname [name_u]Niko[/name_u], or even just nick).
Other names I like include [name_m]Judah[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Anton[/name_m], [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_m]Alastair[/name_m], and [name_m]Harvey[/name_m].
Would love any suggestions that may fit with that unique full name, common nickname rule. (though not always a fan of the last name as first name phenomenon… like jackson, jefferson, etc which often lend themselves to this)

[name_m]Olivier[/name_m] is an interesting option… though one of my best friends just named her kid [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], I hadn’t thought of this variation. hmmmm
my husband does like [name_u]Gus[/name_u]… will have to play with bigger versions of this. I had been thinking [name_u]August[/name_u] but hadn’t thoguht of [name_m]Angus[/name_m] or [name_m]Fergus[/name_m] (though hubby is british and these are VERY scottish)

and never thought of [name_m]Levi[/name_m] as a potential nickname for oliver/olivier.
edward , micah and nathaniel or both names i quite like and husband doesn’t hate. though i don’t think top of his list.
