Brother for Finn and River

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!

We need boy name ideas! Our first two boys are named [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]River[/name_u] and we can’t decide on a boy name to “match”! The “water” theme was NOT planned, ha! But, nature is a big deal to us and we love unique names. Yet, we also like a classic twist. We’re pretty decided on a girl’s name, but if you wanted to add a few of those that’d be appreciated too!

Any ideas?

Thanks all!

[name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m]

[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]

[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] was my first thought (like the [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u]). I also like the suggestion of [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u].

Along those lines…
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]
[name_u]Nile[/name_u]
Tiber or [name_m]Tiberius[/name_m]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Farley[/name_m] ([name_m]Farley[/name_m] Mowat was an environmentalist)
Otter

[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and…

[name_m]Piers[/name_m]
[name_m]Bridger[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Birch[/name_m]

[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] might be a bit too water lol

[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]
[name_m]Bear[/name_m]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] (sea)
[name_u]Calder[/name_u]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] (river)
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_u]Kai[/name_u] (means water)
[name_m]Killian[/name_m] (I associate with water from once upon a time)
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Lake[/name_u]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Maverick[/name_m]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]

Thanks all!!!

We have considered Laketon ([name_u]Lake[/name_u]) and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] but vetoed for the heavy theme ([name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] would be like [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]) and [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is probably too literal in talking about [name_u]River[/name_u] & [name_u]Finn[/name_u].

So far I’m loving: [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. I feel like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] might be too out there, but I’m not sure. And my only issue with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] is: are they too common?

Has anyone ever heard of naming a boy [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]? [name_f]Indie[/name_f] for short? I do not think I could get my husband on board, but it’s been one I’ve loved forever!

For some reason boy #3 name is just SO hard for us!!!

I like [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]! [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is all girl to me though. [name_f]Indy[/name_f] is boy (like [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]). I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] to me are about as popular as [name_u]Finn[/name_u] ([name_u]Finn[/name_u] isn’t that uncommon), although [name_u]River[/name_u] is much less common.

I like [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] for a boy! I think it’s nice with [name_u]Finn[/name_u] & [name_u]River[/name_u]. There’s also the similar [name_m]Indio[/name_m] and [name_m]Inigo[/name_m] to consider. For a boy I would prefer [name_f]Indy[/name_f] to [name_f]Indie[/name_f] as the nn, the -ie spelling seems girly to me

First name that came to mind was [name_u]August[/name_u]… it goes perfectly with your little ones!

I’d also add:
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and…
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_u]Drew[/name_u]
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m]
[name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]

My 5th baby a boy we named [name_u]River[/name_u] and then when he was 6 weeks we changed it to [name_m]JUST[/name_m] [name_f]Indy[/name_f]. We have since met one girl named [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. No one thinks it’s fem we just get older men saying “oh like Indianan jones cool” I think [name_f]Indy[/name_f] goes great w [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_m]Fin[/name_m]. I would also like to suggest [name_m]Otis[/name_m]. Best of luck!

I like Indigo, [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] or [name_m]Indio[/name_m] nn [name_f]Indy[/name_f] but [name_f]Indy[/name_f] on own works with your other names.

I also like:

[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Hart[/name_m]
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_u]Harley[/name_u]
[name_u]Curtis[/name_u]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_m]Bastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

Funny, when I first read your post, I immediately thought of [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]! I think it would sound great with [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]River[/name_u]. Could still be a water connection referencing dark blue water. [name_f]Indy[/name_f] or Digo would be cute nn.

I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]! Is [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] too on the nose for you?

I have a two-year-old son, [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]. He’s very enthusiastic about his name so far–he loves to shout it when you ask him what his name is. It has proven to be a fun name…many nicknames… “Go, [name_f]Indy[/name_f], go!” was fun to shout when he was first crawling, walking, running etc. It’s been well received, probably because pronunciation isn’t a problem to native English speakers because we are familiar with the color. We are trying to make [name_f]Indy[/name_f] his main nickname, but it’s difficult not to call him other things like “Go-go” imo because the name is so fun, as is his personality. You do need to accept that it is a unisex name with the possibility of [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] becoming significantly more common for girls in the future.

[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u], and [name_u]Rowen[/name_u]!

[name_u]Oak[/name_u]/[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]
[name_u]Dale[/name_u]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_m]Birch[/name_m]
[name_m]Forest[/name_m]/[name_m]Forrest[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]

[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Wade[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_m]Locke[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]West[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Easton[/name_u]

You guys are the BEST! I love all of the suggestions and am glad to hear I’m not the only one who loves [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]. I agree, [name_f]Indy[/name_f] is more masculine. I’m almost positive it would turn into [name_f]Indy[/name_f] all the time. I’m used to having somewhat unisex names - after we named our son [name_u]River[/name_u], I found a lot more girl “[name_u]River[/name_u]'s” than boys! It doesn’t bother me (or my son) at all. I think it’d be the same for [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]. The only issue there is getting my husband on board as he tends to aim towards MUCH more classic names.

We know someone very close with a son named [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], otherwise it’d likely be in consideration!

And, when we named our son [name_u]Finn[/name_u] ([name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] is his full name) it was not as popular as it is now - although I think I’d still choose it, even knowing it’s popularity. It fits him just perfectly. We got SO much flack for it when we picked that name that we now never tell until baby is born!

My top from your suggestions so far:
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]

I’ve always loved [name_u]Sage[/name_u], but it falls into the same category as [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] (maybe feminine and a hard sell for hubby). But I have time to work on him  - and we usually pair the first name with a very classic, family middle name, so I’m guessing we’ll do the same here.

Has anyone ever heard of naming a boy something like “[name_u]Finch[/name_u]” or the sorts? This sounds odd, but a baby finch nest is outside my bedroom window and got me through some of the worst days of morning sickness (I get very sick when pregnant)

I haven’t heard of anyone named [name_u]Finch[/name_u]. It seems too close to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] in a sibset. I do think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] would fit in nicely, though. I always think of that Olympian named [name_u]Sage[/name_u] (I think he was a snowboarder?) that was the first time I ever heard [name_u]Sage[/name_u] used as a name. Come to think of it, I don’t know of any female [name_u]Sage[/name_u]…just of a female [name_u]Saige[/name_u] the cat.

@lilactree, I actually just heard a little girl being called [name_u]Finch[/name_u] when I was out and about this morning. A very cool name for either sex! I almost suggested it to you, but I found it too be too close to [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. As for [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], I find both solidly unisex, and actually had both on my list for boys.
