Brother for Gage, Sloane, Brave and Rue?

So I’m writing a story about a man passing away, leaving his 3 children fatherless, and his wife unknowingly pregnant. It will most likely be from the oldest son’s point of view. Anyway, the mom eventually remarries and has 1 or 2 children with the new husband, and I need names.

So here are the present children:

[name]Gage[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] {Last Name}
[name]Sloane[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] {Last Name}
Brave [name]Aurelia[/name] {Last Name}
[name]Rue[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] {Last Name}

The next child will be a boy, then if there is another child, I’m not completely sure of the gender. The requirements, however, are that the name(s) are one syllable and end in “e”. This is why I’ve been having trouble finding names. The only names I remotely like with these requirements are [name]Reese[/name], [name]Blaise[/name] and [name]Pierce[/name], which all either repeat the same first initials as the present children, or just don’t “go well” with the other names. sigh

So, any ideas? :slight_smile:

P.S. Middle name for the next boy will either be [name]Cutler[/name], [name]Monroe[/name], or [name]Harrison[/name]. (all middles have a family connection in the story)

Thank you!!

Your story sounds interesting, though I’m curious why you chose Brave as the name for the second girl, and [name]Rue[/name] for the third.
A few ideas fitting the criteria (one sylablle, ends with e):
[name]Ace[/name]
[name]Boothe[/name]
[name]Cade[/name]
[name]Clive[/name]
[name]Duke[/name]
[name]Grey[/name]
[name]Hart[/name]
[name]Hyde[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] one of those strikes a cord!

  • [name]Athena[/name]

Oh my goodness, thank you so much! I didn’t think to use Boothe or Clive (possibly even Boone or Clyde)

As for Brave and Rue (and the contrast between meanings), Brave isn’t particularly named after the virtue Bravery or the state of being Brave, she’ll be named after a relative (Bravo being a grandfather and Aurelia being after a grandmother). As soon as I developed her character, I knew she’d be named Brave. Brave would’ve been 2 when her father passed away, and therefore never really KNOW her father. She, as a character, isn’t brave. She’ll most likely be a little ray of sunshine, but will still be shy.

Rue will be born 6-7 months AFTER her father dies. She would be raised by her mother and the new husband, and therefore not even contain the slightest bit of memory of him. I have no idea why I called her Rue. I suppose because Brave will always resent Rue at least a little, because she (Rue) will never feel the sadness and regret (yes I purposely used “Regret”) of not knowing her father, as Rue wouldn’t have even been born until after the father passes.

So, I guess Brave and Rue HAD to contrast, because they’re going to be raised together and will be only about 29 months apart, and yet have very different outlooks on their father’s death.

Your explanation is really cool…I wish I went that deep when I write! :slight_smile:

I think since all the girl’s names are unisex, I think the boy’s name should be more…manly? I think [name]Pierce[/name] and [name]Boone[/name] would work really well! I also think [name]Price[/name] would be cool also!

Good luck! :slight_smile:
