I posted a few weeks ago looking for a name for [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]’s brother. At the time, we thought we had narrowed our list down to [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]John[/name_m] … but neither feel quite right. We have composed a list of a few of our favorites right now and we would love your opinions!
Of note, [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_m]Walton[/name_m], and [name_m]Sayre[/name_m] are all family names. We are loving [name_u]Mason[/name_u], but are unsure of it’s trendy-ness with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
Thanks so much! We are also open to other suggestions.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] are cute. They’re like old man names w/just the right amount of quirky-ness.
Here are my thoughts on your list:
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]/[name_m]Judah[/name_m]-I like [name_u]Jude[/name_u] a lot, & it fits in great. [name_m]Judah[/name_m] is a little more religious sounding. Which isn’t a bad thing, I just don’t like as much in general or w/[name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Mason[/name_u]-I’m not personally a fan of double names…they’re just overkill in my opinion. This has a nice flow though.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u]-You’re right that it is super duper trendy.
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Sayre[/name_m]-See [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. I think [name_m]Sayre[/name_m] may be hard for people to pronounce correctly too.
[name_m]Walton[/name_m]-This is fun! Different, old man yet quirky. Perfect.
I’m really loving [name_m]John[/name_m]-[name_u]Mason[/name_u] or [name_m]Walton[/name_m].
The double barrel name gives a more classic vibe to it, which fits nicely with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
I agree that [name_m]Walton[/name_m] gives a great vintage vibe as well. Its definitely more uncommon, but totally useable.
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_m]Judah[/name_m] are some of my favorite names ever, so they get my vote. [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is cute too.
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] works the best with his siblings’ names.
[name_m]Judah[/name_m] feels a bit too “out-there cool” and [name_u]Mason[/name_u] too trendy with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. Nothing against people who use double first names, but they look a bit silly and unnecessary to me. [name_m]Just[/name_m] personal preference!
What about:
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m]
[name_u]Beau[/name_u]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_m]Clayton[/name_m]
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_u]Freddie[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_u]Maxime[/name_u]/[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_m]Xander[/name_m]
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] are both great names with a sort of vintage charm. I think [name_m]Walton[/name_m] would match them perfectly, since it’s also old fashioned but still quirky enough for a comeback.
Another user suggested that [name_m]John[/name_m] nn [name_u]Jem[/name_u] would fit nicely, since [name_m]John[/name_m] is still a little too old-man to come back yet in my opinion but could be spiced up with a nickname. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], maybe?) could fit perfectly too, since it’s vintage but has a more modern nn.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] sound awesome together. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] or [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Walton[/name_m] are really nice.
Of these options [name_m]Walton[/name_m] seems the most appealing, though I’m very of the mind that family names are better suited to the middle
I used to love [name_u]Jude[/name_u] until I learned it’s also the [name_m]German[/name_m] word for Jew and was written on the star of [name_m]David[/name_m] patches they were forced to wear by the Nazis. Despite still being a common name, I find that rather uncomfortable. For related reasons [name_m]Judah[/name_m] feels like a no-go to me as well.
I love previous suggestions of [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Clive[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m].
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]/[name_m]Judah[/name_m] - I’m not a fan of biblical names so I don’t like [name_m]Judah[/name_m] much, but [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is cool! I like the sound, I think it’s strong and masculine but still sweet.
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] (double name) - I don’t like double names at all, but I think as a first and middle name this is a lovely combination! Flows well.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] - This is my favourite name from your list! [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is super cute and fantastic. [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is soft and sweet but still masculine, and I wouldn’t worry about it being too trendy!
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Sayre[/name_m] (double name) - Once again, not a fan of double names, but this is great as a first and middle name combination.
[name_m]Walton[/name_m] - [name_m]Walton[/name_m] feels a bit outdated to me, but it does have a nice sound!
