Brother for Jill

We have a baby girl named [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and need a boy’s name for [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2!

Not sure yet if it’s a boy or girl, but we have a much easier time with girl names. If it is a girl, we’re thinking she’ll be [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].

Boys are harder for us. My husband loves [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], but I really don’t think I’m a fan, at least not for our son. I’m really liking [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], but my husband doesn’t like it at all.

We’ve also thought about these names:

[name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_u]Brady[/name_u]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]

Other names we like but can’t use because of negative associations: [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_m]Ronin[/name_m], [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]

Any other suggestions? We’re really stuck!

My favourites on your lists are [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] but if those aren’t working for both of you maybe some fresh ideas may help.

[name_m]Harvey[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], especially with [name_f]Jillian[/name_f].

  • means it has double Ls like [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], not sure if you like this idea.

What about [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]? It works well with [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and they both have the double L. My first thought was [name_m]Scott[/name_m] with [name_f]Jill[/name_f]. Instead of [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], what about [name_m]Edmond[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], or [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]? Instead of [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], what about [name_m]Alastair[/name_m], [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], or [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]?

[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and two-syllable brother, a familiar but slightly unexpected name, ideally a name (like [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] or [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] or [name_u]Finley[/name_u]) that has a natural one-syllable nickname:

[name_m]Russell[/name_m] - [name_f]Jill[/name_f] and [name_m]Russ[/name_m]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] - [name_f]Jill[/name_f] and [name_m]Mac[/name_m]
[name_m]Davis[/name_m] - [name_f]Jill[/name_f] and [name_m]Dave/name_m
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] - [name_f]Jill[/name_f] and [name_m]Ben[/name_m]
[name_m]Gordon[/name_m] - [name_f]Jill[/name_f] and [name_m]Gord/name_m

[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
So you can read the jack and [name_f]Jill[/name_f] rhyme every night together

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the name [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? Maybe your husband would like it since he doesn’t like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] would be really nice with a sister named [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] (which is an absolutely adorable name!) [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] ([name_u]Dean[/name_u] being one of your favorites) is really nice.
