Hello there!

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are expecting a baby boy in [name_u]August[/name_u] and I really need ideas. We had such a hard time agreeing on the last one. We both like classic/traditional names but still have different taste within that category.

[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]’s first name came from my husband’s grandfather, and his middle name is [name_u]James[/name_u], my husband’s middle name. His nicknames are JJ and [name_u]Joey[/name_u]. [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] has two older siblings from my husband’s previous marriage, [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] and [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] (they go by [name_u]Chris[/name_u] & [name_f]Katie[/name_f]).

To give you a sense of where we are, here’s what we’ve discussed.

Names I love that he doesn’t: [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] (he has two cousin Bens), [name_u]Oliver[/name_u], [name_m]Luke[/name_m]

Names he loves that I don’t: [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (I love but I have a brother [name_u]Alex[/name_u]), [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] (I like but don’t like [name_u]Tony[/name_u] or Ant), [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] (I like but don’t want another J, also feels too similar to [name_m]Joseph[/name_m])

Names that could work: [name_u]Noah[/name_u] (I love, he likes but is hesitant because his cousin has a son [name_u]Noah[/name_u]), [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] (he loves, I like), [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] (we both like but don’t love)

I’d like to use one of my grandfathers’ names as a middle name. They were [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] and [name_m]William[/name_m]. I like [name_m]William[/name_m] better, but was closer with grandfather [name_u]Leslie[/name_u]. [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] is also my dad’s middle name and my uncle/godfather’s name.

Our last name is 4 syllables, starts with “T” and ends with “a” (sounds kind of like primavera, aloevera, lol)

So… [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], and ______?

Hi, thank you! Lots of great suggestions. I do like [name_u]Luca[/name_u], worth suggesting but I have a feeling he won’t like it (I’ve also suggested [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and he doesn’t like).

David and [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] are great names and fit well, but he has a nephew [name_m]David[/name_m] and i have a cousin [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I LOVE [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but my close friend just used for her baby. (This is the trouble with common/traditional names, it so hard to find one that you don’t know closely!)

I really like [name_m]Leo[/name_m], I will suggest that!

From your second list I love [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], but we have one of those in the family too.

Thank you! I LOVE [name_m]Wilson[/name_m], such a great name and I hadn’t thought of it before. And [name_m]Will[/name_m]/Willie are such cute nicknames.

I like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] too, but doesn’t quite feel right. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is great, I will think more about that one. [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is a great fit with our current names, but it’s my ex husband’s name.

Your older kids’ names are so lovely and warm! I adore [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] from your list, but it’s understandable that it feels already-taken from your husband’s perspective. I also love [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] from your list. From the previous suggestions, I think [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] fit particularly well. More ideas:

In the family we have a [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] (love that), [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], and [name_u]Michael[/name_u] (my husband), otherwise I would consider all of those. I’m very fond of J names but since my son is [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] I’d prefer to pick a different letter.

The two that stand out most from your list add [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m], I love those!! Adding to the list. :heartpulse:

I suggested [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] to my husband and it’s the first of my suggestions that he likes! And he likes it a lot. So it’s a top contender for us.
