Brother for Maisie - Alec or Charlie or something else?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! First time poster here. We’re expecting a baby brother for [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] in a few months and are having difficulty choosing a name! So far, we both like [name_m]Alec[/name_m] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. We live in the US, although I’m from the UK. Surname is hyphenated (starting with S). Family middle names that we could use are [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] and [name_m]Craig[/name_m]. I would love to hear thoughts on first names and middle names and welcome any new suggestions too. Thanks

I think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] are adorable. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] sounds great.

I plan on naming my daughter to be born in [name_f]October[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]! [name_f]Do[/name_f] u love this name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] people have trouble pronouncing it ? Has the response to the name been positive?

I too would love your opinion on [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I think it’s so so adorable but having a bit of difficulty picturing it on an adult. And would love to hear what her middle name is!

For a brother to [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], I would vote for [name_m]Alec[/name_m] from your list. Not a super fan of the rhyming with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. For his middle I like [name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u], [name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], and [name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. Other suggestions would be:

[name_m]Hale[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]

My favourite is [name_m]Hale[/name_m]. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_m]Hale[/name_m]. So cute!

Thanks so much to all of you!

We still love the name [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] four years later and would choose it again. I can’t imagine my daughter being called anything else! Her middle name is [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. No problems with pronunciation and we have only met two others in four years (at a playground and restaurant). Occasionally people mention the [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] Mouse books, which my daughter loved when she was younger.

Hmm…
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] does go with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] nicely and feels very British. But [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is also so over used in the UK. I don’t know how long you’ve been in the USA and you probably don’t remember naming trends but [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] has been very popular for several years, it feels very predictable. [name_m]Alec[/name_m] is a nice choice but I like the cutesy feel of [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] together it’s sooo British. Whereas [name_m]Alec[/name_m] doesn’t fit that style.
Suggestions:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Crispin[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_m]Archer[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] & [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m]

[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m]

[name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

[name_m]Crispin[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] (a little too Scottish for you but I love it)

[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m]

[name_m]Archie[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m]

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

I think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] would work and [name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m]

This is tough! I think [name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] is fantastic! However, I think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is perfect with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. The popularity wouldn’t bother me with this one because it is a classic.

I agree with tori101. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is over used over here. Maybe thats not a problem where you are…?
On a similar theme I prefer;
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]

[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_m]Alec[/name_m] captured my attention. I think this is the more “interesting”/distinctive pair. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] sounds more like twins - both names that I love, but a little bit matchy-matchy.

[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] & [name_m]Alec[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

More ideas:

[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and… [name_m]Mack[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m] “[name_u]Win[/name_u]”
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] “[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]”
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] “[name_m]Dex[/name_m]”
[name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] “[name_u]Gus[/name_u]”
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]

I really like both [name_m]Alec[/name_m] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], but I agree with the pp that [name_m]Alec[/name_m] would be better since [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] rhyme. Other names that seem to fit your style but don’t rhyme with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_m]Hank[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Will[/name_m]
[name_m]Bram[/name_m]

For me [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] sound the best together.

[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] are too cutsey and matchy for me, unless you go [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]?
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_m]Tom[/name_m]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_u]Bert[/name_u]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_u]Sam[/name_u]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] & [name_m]Will[/name_m]

Me again! Thanks so much for all the helpful comments. We have pretty much decided on [name_m]Alec[/name_m] but a new possibility (for me anyway!) is [name_m]Marcus[/name_m]. Thoughts? Are [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] too similar? Also, our last name starts with an S. Thanks!
