Here are my thoughts on the ‘names you don’t mind list’-

Louis-This is nice. It’s handsome & simple & classic. It fits fine w/Otto. It’s not quite as spunky, but it works.

Ziggy-I think that this is just a little bit too goofy. Maybe it’d be okay for a nn, but I’m not sure what for. Something like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] or [name_m]Zacceus[/name_m] perhaps? [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]?

Johan-That’s cool. It’s not my personal favorite, but it’s unique & a good solid name. Sounds a little bit serious next to [name_m]Otto[/name_m], but that’s not a deal breaker.

Remy-I like this a lot. I seem to be hearing it on girls a lot more, sadly. It’s all boy to me. Very dapper & nice w/Otto.

Basil-Ooh, I love this one. It’s so smart & cozy & nature-y & interesting. And the nn Bash is cute. Are you in the UK or US (or other?) If you’re in the UK, you should get Bazz-uhl no problem, I’d think. If you’re in the US, you might get a lot of [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-zuhl. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer Bazz-uhl? I do. I’m in the US though, so I’d never use it here.

Rudy-I think that this goes well w/Otto, but I don’t personally love it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] the ‘rude’ part kind of turns me off. But I do like how its a less common version of [name_u]Remy[/name_u].

Reuben-Nothing wrong w/this one, it just doesn’t sparkle for me. Perfectly nice though.

Lumi-This seems feminine too. Not my cup of tea.

Jens-I like it in theory, but just not big on the sound. Maybe I’m just desensitized to ‘[name_f]Jen[/name_f]’ names growing up w/so many.

Magnus-This is my husband’s favorite name. I told him maybe we could use it for a big dog some day, but it’s just too macho for a child in my opinion.

I should have said, we’re Australian ([name_m]German[/name_m] heritage), so [name_u]Basil[/name_u] would definitely be Bazz-il (the [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-zil pronunciation doesn’t exist here). So glad you like this name, i think it is right on the cusp of old man name turned cute! Lots of fun nickname ideas. He’d probably get [name_m]Baz[/name_m] or Bazza here in Aus.

I agree with you re: [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] — it only made the list because my 2.5 year old heard it somewhere and has insisted that that is the baby’s name since the beginning! So maybe working a twist on that in somehow would be cute. [name_u]Or[/name_u] a dog lol.

I can’t use [name_m]Leon[/name_m] because it rhymes with my last name, so I do like to suggest it to others.
