I have a new baby boy and we have named him [name_m]Samson[/name_m] but I’m having second thoughts!
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it works with siblings [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] & [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] ([name_m]Iggy[/name_m])? I have been tossing up changing to [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (a little too popular perhaps) with nn [name_m]Hank[/name_m] or to [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
We have a short one syllable surname and I do prefer something less common with a good meaning…

I think you should go with whatever feels right to you when you hold him! Regardless of his siblings’ names, you’re going to be calling him it for the rest of his life so I would go with what you feel fits when you look at him and say it to him! I think (whether intended or not), [name_m]Samson[/name_m], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] all have a very nice biblical theme together, while still managing to be off the beaten path. If it still doesn’t feel right though, I think either of the other two work, leaning more towards [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
I think [name_m]Samson[/name_m] sounds great with your other children’s names. You are a marvelous namer. [name_m]Samson[/name_m] may not sound as exotic as [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], but the biblical story is pretty earth shattering. The name lacks nothing for punch!

It seems to tick all your boxes, it’s unusual, it has a lovely meaning and it fits very well (in my opinion) with your other childrens names. Congratulations! I adore the name [name_m]Samson[/name_m] (and your other kids’ names) and I think it goes really nicely. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] are very handsome names but feel a lot more mainstream - [name_m]Samson[/name_m] is just the right amount of quirky and yet still feels very wearable and approachable.
I agree that [name_m]Samson[/name_m] works very well with [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_m]Samson[/name_m] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] is a good combo so I’d say go for it! I do think that [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] are more common than your sibset, so I’d probably go for something a little more unusual.
But in case you want to consider some other possibilities:
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], and
I love the name [name_m]Samson[/name_m]! It’s not on my list because it’s alteady been used on a pet and is a close acquaintance’s surname. I love [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] too. I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] might be too common for your taste, and [name_m]Hank[/name_m] doesn’t fit stylistically with the others. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] would work, but I truly prefer [name_m]Samson[/name_m]. I hope you come to a decision that feels right, whether it’s sticking with [name_m]Samson[/name_m] or choosing another name. Good luck!
