brother for sam

dh and i just recently found that we are having a boy. we have no idea where to start. we have a son named samuel. looking for a name that is classic/ somewhat old fashioned but always been “around”. we had no idea samuel was so popular when we named ds- we are looking for a name with a similar feel but not as popular. last name has three syllables and starts with o. any ideas? thanks.

[name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]: I suggest this, in part, because I’m currently expecting twin boys and my husband and I have agreed to name one [name]Charles[/name]. We can’t seem to decide on a second name, but my current favourite right now is [name]Samuel[/name] nn [name]Sam[/name] because I think [name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Sam[/name] seem like perfect brother names.

From your description, it sounds like our styles are similar, so you might be inspired by something on our current list:

[name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] nn Sabe
[name]Peter[/name] nn [name]Pete[/name]
[name]Edward[/name] nn ?
[name]Gabriel[/name] nn [name]Gabe[/name]

[name]Sullivan[/name] ([name]Sully[/name])

I love [name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]. It was on our list the first time around, BUT my cousin just named her son [name]Charlie[/name]. And her husband’s name is [name]Sam[/name] (married after my [name]Sam[/name] was born). Any other ideas with a similar feel to [name]Samuel[/name] nn [name]Sam[/name] and [name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]?

[name]Samuel[/name] &

[name]Benjamin[/name] ([name]Ben[/name])
[name]Thomas[/name] ([name]Tom[/name])
[name]Daniel[/name] ([name]Dan[/name])
[name]Joshua[/name] ([name]Josh[/name])
[name]Nathaniel[/name] ([name]Nate[/name])
[name]Jacob[/name] ([name]Jake[/name])
[name]William[/name] ([name]Will[/name])
[name]Gabriel[/name] ([name]Gabe[/name])
[name]Jackson[/name] ([name]Jack[/name])
[name]Nicholas[/name] ([name]Nick[/name])
[name]Christopher[/name] ([name]Chris[/name])
[name]Matthew[/name] ([name]Matt[/name])
[name]Zachary[/name] ([name]Zach[/name])
[name]Lucas[/name] ([name]Luke[/name])
[name]Jonathan[/name] ([name]John[/name])

  • all have the possibility to shorten to one syllable nicknames just like [name]Samuel[/name] ([name]Sam[/name])

some others…

If you have a [name]Sam[/name], you HAVE to have a [name]Charley[/name]!

We named our son [name]Arthur[/name]–last Fall; I haven’t seen the name a whole lot on this site though it is a little popular in UK. And #6 in Belgium! Nn could be [name]Artie[/name].

braden sounds ok but I would go with Dragan (Dray-[name]Gun[/name]) or [name]Broder[/name] ( Bro-Der). Those are names that have been around for a long time. They are names from norse mythology.

This is a perfect list. [name]Benjamin[/name] was the first name that came to my mind. [name]Love[/name] that sib set.

[name]Sam[/name], [name]Ben[/name], and [name]Charlie[/name] are perfect as brothers. I don’t know what it is about those three names, but if I could only have three sons I would name them [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], and [name]Charles[/name].

sorry for any repeats:

[name]Timothy[/name] - [name]Tim[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] - [name]Luke[/name]
[name]Joshua[/name] - [name]Josh[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name] - [name]Dan[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name] - [name]John[/name]
[name]James[/name] - [name]Jack[/name]
[name]Mathias[/name] - [name]Mat[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] -[name]Jules[/name]
[name]Marcus[/name] -[name]Marc[/name]

[name]Samuel[/name] is so charming. These are just as charming…
