I’m due in [name_u]November[/name_u] with babe #2 and our boy name list is abysmal. I prefer unique, and more obscure names that can grow with kids. Our 2 year old daughter is named [name_f]Selah[/name_f]. Something to note: our last name is distinctly Italian (Masc0li) which can make it hard to find names that fit.
Our running list is:
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Coen[/name_m]
And that’s it. [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is my top choice but a friend expressed some misgivings about it’s popularity and ability to grow with a kiddo and now I’m back to square one. Some ideas would be lovely! Thank you!
I like [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] a lot, & it’s sweet w/[name_f]Selah[/name_f]. I think that it grows up just fine. I don’t disagree w/your friend about it getting more popular though. It’s not super popular yet (316 on the Social Security list last year), but the rate at which it’s moving up the charts is rather speedy.
[name_m]Coen[/name_m] is not my style, but it’s fine. [name_m]Coen[/name_m] isn’t popular, but two syllable boy names that end in ‘n’ are kind of over done in general (e.g. [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_m]Braden[/name_m], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], etc.) I like some of those names a lot, but just something to consider.
Atm [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] seems to be crazy online and is on the gender bend train in hollywood right now.
I think it depends where you. I have a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] which is top 100 on ssa charts. But ive never met another one in our area in over10 years.
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is a great name and sounds lovely with [name_f]Selah[/name_f]
I considered [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] for our son but ended up going with [name_u]Cedar[/name_u]. Interestingly here in the [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Northwest I have since met several little girls named [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] (I previously always thought it was a male name). Not sure if that makes a difference for you but perhaps something to keep in mind.
I like [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] (but would be hesitant due to the association with the drink). What about [name_m]Cosimo[/name_m]?
