Hello! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are deciding on a name for our son (second child). [name_m]Boy[/name_m] names have been a struggle for us, so we are looking for suggestions. Our daughter’s name is [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Kay[/name_f] (last name is harsh, double syllable, beginning with D). We love the feminine, vintage sound to it, and it just felt like the perfect name for her. We are struggling a bit for our son, as we want something masculine, preferably vintage, and that possibly (not a huge deal to us) has a nature feel or is nature inspired. I’m sure there’s not a name out there that will feel like “the one”, but we just want to see if there are names we are missing.

Our top two names are currently [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Wells[/name_m]. We’ve gotten mixed feedback on the name [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. We personally love how it’s an older name that feels fresh (in our area it’s not common). Everyone seems to love [name_m]Wells[/name_m], and we like it too, but it feels a bit trendy. While we like the sound and nature feel of it, we don’t love that it’s a newer name (if that makes sense). Maybe we are thinking into this too much!

Lastly, if we were having another girl (we hope to have more children), her name would probably be [name_f]June[/name_f].

Oh I love your daughter’s name! Out of the 2, I prefer Otto 
However, F l o r a & June sound a little softer to me & I thought perhaps Oslo would match their style a bit better (he also has a lovely nature meaning ~ the meadow beneath the ridge). That’s just an idea though 
Otto or Wells would be lovely too as they’re all great names!

Out of your two current options, I definitely prefer [name_m]Otto[/name_m] with [name_f]Flora[/name_f] (& June) – he has more of that vintage feel for me. You might like [name_m]Otis[/name_m] as a softer alternative? A couple other suggestions you might like:

We ended up with a girl named [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and now I don’t want to repeat letters so sadly won’t be able to use either of those. If I were choosing today and didn’t have a [name_f]Stella[/name_f] I think my top choice would be [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. As it is we would probably go with [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] or [name_m]Emmett[/name_m], neither of which are nature names exactly but I love the old world, masculine feel of them.

I like both the names you’re thinking and both match Flora. I wonder though if Wells is easier to say or less staccato than Otto with a D two syllable last name?
I think a “slow” name works with a “harsh” D last. For me, fluency with the last name is more important than a “perfect” match with Flora.
