Hello! I am 38.5 weeks and we don’t know gender. Names have been very hard this time around, and I feel like I’ve researched all avenues and nothing new is sticking out at me. I would love a name not starting in a G, C, L or T and it needs to have a solid meaning. I love that our boy names are easy to spell and say (people struggle with spelling [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f].) They’re different but not too weird. (I hope.)
I would love your ideas and feedback.
BOY: So far our strongest boy contender is [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] because it would honor both of our dads. I do worry that people will say it incorrectly…is it Ee-vander or eh-[name_m]Vander[/name_m]. I’m not even sure I really know, although my dad’s middle name is [name_m]Evans[/name_m] so if it’s after him, than perhaps it really should be eh-[name_m]Vander[/name_m]. Does it fit with the other names? Does it sound vintage enough?
GIRL: we can’t agree on anything. I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f] but would want it pronounced [name_f]Helen[/name_f]-uh. My Grandma was [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. My husband isn’t as keen on [name_f]Helena[/name_f] unfortunately. We’ve also talked about [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. Thoughts? I like the [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] spelling but my husband prefers [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. If we did [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], it’s definitely more common than I’d prefer, but it fits the bill and goes nicely I think.
Help please!
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_m]Evander[/name_m] are great!
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m], [name_m]Alastair[/name_m], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] came to mind for boys.
For girls, [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u] and [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] came to mind
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
Your kids’ have beautiful names. They’re all smart, timeless & unexpected.
If this new little one is a boy, I think that [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] works well. It could possibly have pronunciation issues though. I’m w/you that I sort of switch back & fourth on how I say it. Why not [name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]? [name_u]Evan[/name_u] is maybe a little more common than you’d like, but I think that it fits sort of perfectly w/[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] & [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. Also, it’s becoming less popular every year according to the social security popularity charts. Maybe [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is another option? [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is rising the charts though. I think that [name_u]Evan[/name_u] is actually more interesting in 2020.
If the new little one is a girl, I agree that [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is a great fit & a lovely way to honor [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. It may get mispronounced as Hel-ay-nuh, but I think as long as you have a grasp on how it should be said people will figure it out. Too bad your dh doesn’t like it. [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are both gorgeous picks. I also love love love [name_f]Estella[/name_f]. I think that’s a great match w/sister [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f].
A few other girl ideas:
[name_f]Adela[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] is fantastic! [name_m]Conrad[/name_m], [name_m]Luther[/name_m] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m] are all vintage but with slightly different vibes, so I think the slightly more quirky [name_m]Evander[/name_m] slots in perfectly. I wouldn’t worry about pronunciation, I think people would get it pretty quickly. I like it pronounced eh-vander.
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are lovely, but [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is perfect! So classy, sophisticated and vintage… yet still fun and sweet! [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] also brings to mind [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] as sisters.
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is so handsome and would fit in perfectly with your other children. I wouldn’t have ever considered pronouncing it ee-vander, it’s always been EV-ander to me.
I second previous suggestions of [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u], or how about Evren?
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] is always [name_f]Helen[/name_f]-uh to me. I probably wouldn’t pronounce it another way unless there were accents. I’m not keen on [name_f]Helena[/name_f] and it feels a bit plain next to your other kids’ names which are all so exciting! [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] are both lovely. While I prefer [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], I actually think [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] fits better with her siblings.
I would second [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] but then you’d be repeating initials. [name_m]How[/name_m] about…
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Violette[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
I like [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] with your kidsnames, I would also suggest
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]
[name_m]Barnabas[/name_m]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Dimitri[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_m]Roland[/name_m]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
Thank you to everyone who replied. We had a boy on [name_u]December[/name_u] 30th. We need to legally make our name decision tomorrow and we just can not commit.
Our other kids are [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_m]Conrad[/name_m], [name_m]Luther[/name_m] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. We love vintage/classic with great meaning.
Thoughts?
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] “[name_u]Van[/name_u]”
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] (unfortunately we’re not a fan of [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]. Any other possible nicknames?)
I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] a lot, and I think it works perfect with your kids’ names! [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is also amazing. Other nns can be [name_m]Ned[/name_m] or Ted / [name_m]Neddy[/name_m] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]
Congratulations! I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ned[/name_m] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]!
