brother or sister for Kylie and Mackenzie???

I need help on a name for a brother or sister for my daughters [name]Kylie[/name] and [name]Mackenzie[/name]. I am not sure on the sex of the baby yet but I am looking for something that is easy to pronounce, spell, and not too far out there. LOL  I grew up with a name that I hated and got teased about quite a bit and I definitly do not want that for my child! So I am looking for a name that fits in with the crowd yet I would not want 4 other kids in class with the same name…Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Some thoughts, trying to stay a bit masculine for boys and a bit girly for the girls.

Now for boys:

[name]Riley[/name] (like [name]Riley[/name] Poole from “National [name]Treasure[/name]”, more uncomon for boys than girls right now, but almost a fair split)
[name]Logan[/name]
[name]Roarke[/name]/[name]Rourke[/name]
[name]Carson[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Garrett[/name]
[name]Wiley[/name]
[name]Forbes[/name]
[name]Vaughn[/name]
[name]Hamish[/name]/[name]Seamus[/name]

For girls:
[name]Kerry[/name]
[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Leslie[/name]
[name]Keely[/name]
[name]Kathleen[/name]
[name]Amara[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Niamh[/name]/[name]Neve[/name]
[name]Deidre[/name]
[name]Wynne[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

THanks for the suggestions! [name]Carson[/name] is one of my top two choices for a boy!

I don’t have a lot of specific suggestions, but here are requirements for the names that will make them sound good together:
Girl:

  • Ends in an ee sound ([name]Katie[/name], [name]Janie[/name], [name]Perry[/name]…)

  • Surname name (like [name]Mackenzie[/name]) or

  • Modern invented name (like [name]Kylie[/name])

  • Sounds upbeat, high-energy and feminine ([name]Arleigh[/name])

    Boy:

  • Decidedly male

  • Not too serious (bye-bye [name]Edward[/name] and [name]John[/name])

  • Stylish ([name]Jacob[/name], [name]Michael[/name], [name]Christopher[/name])

  • No place or word names, though surname names work ([name]Carson[/name])

[name]Anthony[/name], [name]Carson[/name], [name]Macy[/name], and [name]Arleigh[/name] sound pretty good.

Seems [name]Lola[/name] and I have some ideas in common here on names. With [name]Kylie[/name] and [name]Mackenzie[/name] both ending in -ie, it almost seems jarring to name a third girl something that doesn’t have the same ending. I like the name [name]Leslie[/name] in particular, from [name]Lola[/name]'s list for girls. One of my major story characters is named [name]Leslie[/name]; and I had a friend in high school with the name, though she turned out to be a fair-weather friend, unfortunately. But I don’t associate the name with the ex-friend…it’s been a quarter-century plus since we went separate ways. Anyhow, to get back on track, it’s not too common and not trendy at all, and would be a terrific addition to the family.

With a boy I don’t think the name ending is as imperative as with a girl. In which case I just love [name]Roarke[/name]. (Okay, I am the last living “[name]Fantasy[/name] Island” fan in [name]America[/name], but I love it anyway.) It’s dignified and different, and again, not trendy. (Guess you can see a pattern here…)

There are, of course, lots of other good choices presented, but [name]Roarke[/name] and [name]Leslie[/name] are my two personal favorites. [name]Logan[/name] is nice…my future stepson “once removed” has that name, but he has just started kindergarten and there is another [name]Logan[/name] in his class, which tells me the name is being rather overused. Maybe [name]Rogan[/name] would work. [name]Just[/name] some thoughts.

Thanks for the input…I am still stumped on a girls name…I like [name]Presley[/name], [name]Avery[/name], and [name]Delaney[/name]…my hubby vetos all of these…[name]Do[/name] you think it would be sound weird to go with something that doesn’t end in “ie” or the “e” sound???..I had originally wanted to name [name]Mackenzie[/name]… [name]Kennedy[/name]…but in the end I decided that I didnt want to stick to the “K” names in case I had a third child…however…I did not consider that I may be stuck with the names ending with “e”. [name]Do[/name] you think I should choose a name that ends in the “e” sound just for that reason alone???HELP!?

You are not stuck doing anything you don’t want to do. Honest. You don’t even have to match styles, never mind endings!

[name]Truly[/name], there’s nothing saying your kids have to match. If you want, you can have [name]Kylie[/name], [name]Mackenzie[/name] & [name]Seraphina[/name] (just an example of something completely different!), if that’s what you want. If it makes you feel any better, we’re trying for #4 and the names I have on the lists for this one have very little to do with the other three. My thoughts on it are simple: This is my last chance to use a name I love over one I think 'fits". I mean, if I find one that feels perfect in fit, and I love it too, better for me but as long as it fits the kid, I’m not sweating it this time. Take a deep breath, go through your books/lists (maybe http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ too) and write down everything that appeals for whatever reason. I am confident that something will pop out at you then! Good [name]Luck[/name]!

Thanks [name]Lola[/name]! I think you are right. I am going to go with the name I like best and not one for the sole reason that it “goes” with my other children’s names. If I could find one that goes well and that I love that would be great though!lol I don’t want to tell my child that I chose his or her name because it went well with their siblings!

You go girl!

That’s the perfect reason to go the way you’re going! I know I was so disappointed as a kid to find out my name meant nothing to either parent “it was the one we could both agree on”. Bah! I never felt either one of them loved my name as much as either of my siblings names and hence, have disliked (or tolerated) my name all my life.

A name you love (or both love) trumps everything!
