Brother to Alora & Elodie, need fresh ideas

I initially boxed myself in with lots of rules, after realizing my girls’ names both follow the same pattern:

  • starts with a vowel
  • ends with same vowel
  • 3 syllables

So I had settled on [name_m]Othello[/name_m].

Fiancee HATES it. The ONLY other name i like that follows the pattern is [name_m]Orsino[/name_m], which i like… but I’m not sold on without a good middle.

So i’m having trouble throwing out the rules and coming up with something that betrays the pattern. Please help!

  • First names that fit well in the sibset, disregarding vowels/syllables
  • or a middle for [name_m]Orsino[/name_m]

This has gotten exponentially harder with each child! I didn’t name [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] til our second day in the hospital, she came a month early and i was unprepared… don’t want it to happen again!

Alora [name_f]Belle[/name_f] N.
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] N.
??? ??? S.

HELP!

Alora and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] are beautiful, and it’s actually pretty cute if just the girls have a subtle theme while baby brother differs. [name_m]Orsino[/name_m] and [name_m]Othello[/name_m] are both nice but do seem a little out of place with Alora and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. I think the nicest part of the girls names is the L in the first syllable.

[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Dalton[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_m]Collin[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]

[name_m]Apollo[/name_m]
[name_m]Colton[/name_m]
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_u]Colby[/name_u]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Leland[/name_u]

My favourite starts-and-ends-with-a-vowel name is [name_u]Asa[/name_u].

My favourite three syllable names are [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u].

Off the top of my head, [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] comes to mind as a name that followed your rules.

Here’s all the vowel heavy names I could think of! Good luck! Pretty girl names by the way

[name_m]Orlando[/name_m]
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
[name_u]Elia[/name_u]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Eliseo[/name_m]
[name_u]Ira[/name_u]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_u]Indiana[/name_u]/[name_f]Indie[/name_f]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_m]Alistair[/name_m]/[name_u]Allie[/name_u]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_m]Ivo[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Octavio[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliviero[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u]
[name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
[name_u]Ori[/name_u]

Alora and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] are both soft and uncommon. I would not worry about the vowel theme. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m]
[name_m]Ian[/name_m]
[name_m]Ulrich[/name_m]
[name_m]Euan[/name_m]

It’s not easy to find male names beginning/ending in a vowel:
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_m]Arturo[/name_m]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m]
[name_m]Alphonse[/name_m]
[name_u]Emory[/name_u], [name_u]Amory[/name_u]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_f]Asia[/name_f]
[name_u]Azariah[/name_u]/[name_m]Azuriah[/name_m]
[name_m]Earle[/name_m]
[name_m]Elmore[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_m]Eugene[/name_m]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Ira[/name_u]
[name_u]Isa[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Omri[/name_m]
Osgoode
[name_m]Uri[/name_m], [name_m]Urijah[/name_m]

Given the lack of male names ending in a vowel… I say just look at name that are dominated by vowels and have a musical sound to them, a nice harmony like you found with your daughters’ names. The name could have a soft sound if the consonants aren’t hard ones…

What about [name_m]Inigo[/name_m]? Good luck

First of all, your girls’ names are beautiful together. I’ve seen quite a few sibsets that I hate and go terribly together but Alora & [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] work!
But for the question, you don’t have to follow rules for the names to sound good together.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_u]Easton[/name_u]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_m]Ken[/name_m]
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m]

Instead of looking at the structure of the names for the theme or to set the rules, listen to the sound of them or try to catch the history or another theme.

I’d call both Alora and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] ‘romantic’ names, or ‘musical’ or ‘feminine’ or ‘soft’ or ‘Victorian’ or ‘upper class.’ Lots of themes you could latch onto. I’m sure you could find something that feels authentic to you.

A few suggestions for boys’ names that could fit with your girls, in my opinion:

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
Callum
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
Gresham
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Clive[/name_m] - I knew a little [name_m]Clive[/name_m] with sisters [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Prescott[/name_m]
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]

Good luck!

I agree with the above poster.

I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] would be lovely. Or [name_m]Leo[/name_m]

Alora, [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and [name_m]Louis[/name_m]
Alora, [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]

Ihorangi - means rain, Polynesian
Isileli - means strength, Tongan
[name_m]Octavio[/name_m]
Ohanko - restless, Native American (?)
Olando/[name_m]Orlando[/name_m]
Olindo
[name_m]Orsino[/name_m]
Oviedo
Uhuru

That’s all I can find… [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you will like one of them

Thanks everyone! So far i’ve seen a lot of names i jotted down on my original list of likes before i started making all the rules for myself. Which is good because i feel like we’re all on the same track lol. So, a lot of the names I liked so far are:

[name_m]Felix[/name_m] (always LOVED this name, and always on my lists, but fiancee not so much)
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m]
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m] (though that would prob be a middle)
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Inigo[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]

I saw a few more i liked, but i’m wary of nicknaming:
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]

I tried really hard to nickname-proof the first two (so did my mom but she named me [name_f]Mallory[/name_f] and my brother [name_m]Peter[/name_m], so that didn’t work out too well for [name_u]Mal[/name_u] and [name_m]Pete[/name_m].) But i would like to avoid nicknames if possible. thanks for the help so far i look forward to more suggestions!
