[name_f]My[/name_f] S/O and have been racking our brains for weeks. We just can’t seem to agree on a boy’s name. [name_u]Evren[/name_u] [name_m]David[/name_m] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] are our little ones. I wanted something that kind of went along with the space theme because [name_u]Evren[/name_u] means “universe” but my S/O has vetoed pretty much all of them including [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] which out of all the spacey names we looked at was my favorite, he said it “sounded too weird” ugh! We have a few names on our list but none of them feel like “the one”. We also want a name that’s familiar but not insanely popular.
We like [name_m]Watson[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] but none of them feel like they’d fit our family. For some reason, we’ve both decided we want a name that we can shorten into a nickname. We don’t shorten [name_f]Iris[/name_f]’ name but [name_u]Evren[/name_u] we call [name_u]Ren[/name_u], and we’d like to keep that tradition with this little one and none of the three names above can be easily shortened or the nicknames we’ve come up with we don’t like.
Our last name is a very harsh sounding Italian name with a “chuh” beginning and “ee” ending so not many names sound good with it.
Names we’ve also vetoed for one reason or another include
[name_u]Orion[/name_u] (we live next to a town called this, it’d just be too weird)
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] (S/O hates it)
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] (S/O hates it)
[name_u]Aden[/name_u]/Braden/Caden/Zaden etc. (to popular, doesn’t fit our other kid’s names)
[name_u]Jackson[/name_u]/Jaxon/Jack (to popular, negative associations)
And pretty much all spacey names such as [name_u]Atlas[/name_u], [name_u]Aries[/name_u], [name_u]Archer[/name_u], [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], [name_m]Elio[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], etc. (S/O has hated every one I’ve brought up)
I’d love some suggestions. I’m worried this little one will never have a name!

I love [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Watson[/name_m], but I agree that there aren’t that many great nn options. [name_m]Watson[/name_m] nn Wats would be adorable and I think it fits well with [name_u]Evren[/name_u] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]! Here are some other ideas.

If you want a “space” name, and struggling to find one, what about some names from Starwars, Startrek, Battlestar Galactica etc characters?. Alternatively what about very old names which mean heavenly etc.
