Brothers named Samuel "Sam" and Dean?

[name_m]How[/name_m] obvious is the connection between those names and the television show “Supernatural.” I’m a huge fan of the show, but I have also been a big fan of both names since before I ever even watched it. I’ve always loved [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] more, though. I want to put [name_u]Dean[/name_u] back up there on my list (like within the top five), but I’m afraid of how many people will just solely associate it with the TV show.

No matter what, [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] “[name_u]Sam[/name_u]” is staying as my number two name. But I am in love with the name [name_u]Dean[/name_u] as well. What do you guys think about me moving up [name_u]Dean[/name_u] on my list? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think people will only think of “Supernatural” and think I’m copying from the characters?

Thanks!

I’ve heard of the show, but don’t watch it, so it would never occur to me. And, even if it did, I would just think it was a coincidence.

Honestly, I immediately thought of the show when I saw the title, and I don’t even watch it. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_u]Dean[/name_u] would work, I suppose, but [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_u]Dean[/name_u] scream Supernatural to me.

My little sister and mother are super obsessed with the show, so I instantly thought of the show. I think it’d be a bit much if you used the two consecutively, but, if say, you had 5 boys; [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Weston[/name_m] and [name_u]Dean[/name_u], then it wouldn’t be a problem at all. (I love your taste in boys names, by the way!

Honestly, I was just scrolling through the forums page and saw “Brothers named [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Sam[/name_u]’…” and I immediately thought of Supernatural. I hate the show but my best friend is absolutely obsessed so I make the connection pretty quickly. If it makes you feel better though, she’s probably gonna have boys named [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_u]Dean[/name_u], and [name_m]Castiel[/name_m] so you wouldn’t be alone.

It screams Supernatural!!! I love that show and I seen [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_u]Dean[/name_u] and thought of Moose and Squirrel! I feel like its still a really strong connection because the show is still going on and very popular…

The chances at this point that you would end up with both are pretty small. So move it up… no big.

I agree with a previous poster who pointed out that if you only have two boys and name them [name_u]Sam[/name_u] and [name_u]Dean[/name_u], then it would be very obvious. However, if you’re planning to have more than two children, then I think you’ll be fine. I don’t watch the show but I immediately thought of “Supernatural” when I saw the title of this post.

I don’t watch Supernatural but immediately made the connection when I read your thread title and judging from other people’s comments, Yes, people are gonna think of the show. Up to you how big of a deal that is though, if you like the show anyway is it really an issue? (Not like you’re naming them [name_m]Tyrion[/name_m] and [name_f]Daenerys[/name_f])

I don’t watch the show, but my brother really likes it (for whatever reasons. I thought only girls liked it but whatever.). I thought of it, but I wouldn’t be like “oh, supernatural”. Honestly, both names are common enough that I think you’re fine. In a few years, I bet the show won’t be as popular so the association will fade. I like both [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_u]Dean[/name_u], I think the names sound good together. I wouldn’t let the show ruin it for you.

I don’t watch the show but I cringed when I saw the title of this post. Definitely screams Supernatural.

I do agree with previous posters though. If there’s more than two of them, it shouldn’t be a huge deal.

I’d bet less people have seen the show than not. I think [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Sam[/name_u]’ and [name_u]Dean[/name_u] would make great brothers!

I wouldn’t do it. Especially if you’re a fan. Nobody will ever believe you didn’t do it on purpose. If that doesn’t bother you, then own it.
