Brothers names- do these go together?

H guys,
Expecting our 2nd child in 2 weeks our first son is [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]. the two names we like are [name_m]Edison[/name_m] and [name_m]Preston[/name_m]… [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s too “American” if we name our2nd son [name_m]Edison[/name_m] considering we are Australian? The babies middle name will be [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] after my father in law. Please help!

I made the [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]/[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m] connection almost immediately, if that’s what you mean. I would recommend using [name_m]Preston[/name_m], but [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Preston[/name_m] are polar opposite styles to me… [name_m]How[/name_m] is [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] viewed in Australia?

I also immediately think [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]/[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m], which isn’t bad necessarily, but feels themed. [name_f]Do[/name_f]/would you use nicknames?

[name_m]Preston[/name_m] feels less themed but is very preppy in my mind. What about something like [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_m]Donovan[/name_m], [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], [name_m]Lennox[/name_m], [name_m]Hendrick[/name_m]? Any others you’re considering?

i also think [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]/[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m]. i wouldn’t do it. [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] & [name_m]Preston[/name_m] are okay, but i think you could get something that fits better with [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]. another surname-name, perhaps?

Anything but [name_m]Preston[/name_m]!

I am Australian, and immediately felt they were very American names, very presidential. However if you love, love, love [name_m]Edison[/name_m], go for it. Personally would choose [name_m]Preston[/name_m] over [name_m]Edison[/name_m].

[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Edison[/name_m] are more compatible than [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Preston[/name_m].

Other suggestions:

[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]/[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]

I agree with this.

Aww, I think it’s adorable. I think [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Edison[/name_m] are great. Very cute. Go for it.

[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] is adorable <3

I think Edison makes it too American (even too American for Americans), but Preston clashes in style. What about Jeremiah Preston or Jeremiah Edison?

Any other names you are considering?

I think [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] is far more American than [name_m]Edison[/name_m]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] were American inventors, but [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] was also an American statesman involved with drafting the Declaration of Independence and later international diplomacy.

Depending upon what you nn them ([name_m]Frank[/name_m] and [name_m]Eddy[/name_m]?), people may not even pick up on the connection. But I’m an american, what do I know  I can certainly appreciate NOT wanting to be associated with us lol

Eh you’re across the globe, pretty much as distant as one could be, if anyone were to have the sibset I’d say go for it!
I don’t have much perception of how it would sound to your fellow Australians, who would be the better crowd to ask. If it were an American family I could see it being cute if the parents were history buffs, but kind of try-too-hard if they just liked the surnames.
