Bruna?

[name]One[/name] month to go… Up between 2 and 5am the other night searching for Italian girl names that would honor place of conception and husband’s heritage. Came upon [name]Bruna[/name], turns out husband had an aunt name [name]Bruna[/name]. Last name 1ester. Is [name]Bruna[/name] 1ester too brutish/sound like a porn name/Broomhilda-ish?

This is only one of many names in the offing. No deal breaker. [name]Josephine[/name] ([name]Posey[/name])? [name]Alice[/name]?

Is [name]Bruna[/name] too freaky with sibs [name]Henry[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Jemima[/name]?

Thanks for the help.

I dont like [name]Bruna[/name] at all. Sounds like [name]Bruno[/name] and [name]Brunhilda[/name]. What about [name]Brynna[/name], [name]Brenna[/name], or [name]Brynn[/name]? If not, I would go with [name]Josephine[/name]! It’s an awesome name and matches the sibset well. Also works as a lovely mn. Either way.

That’s good. I want to know. Getting freaky with name ideas here at the end.

[name]Bruna[/name] is nice. I like it very much. Go for it. Never thought of this name for a pornstar or brutish.

I dislike it quite a lot. It’s heavy sounding, and, yes, a little [name]Brunhilda[/name]-esque.

I actually love it! I interned at a high school last fall and I had the pleasure of working with this teenager who worked in the registrar’s office… she was just the sweetest, so happy and kind and helpful. [name]Just[/name] a little jewel. Her name was [name]Bruna[/name]. I kind of thought it was ugly until then (just reminded me of the French word for brown), but I’ve grown to really appreciate it. It appeals to me a lot and I think it has a similar vibe to [name]Luna[/name] and another “Br” name like [name]Bridget[/name], [name]Bryony[/name], or [name]Brynn[/name]… I kind of like the idea of [name]Bridget[/name] [name]Luna[/name], too, and you could use [name]Bruna[/name] as a nickname… I really love [name]Bruna[/name] but I don’t think it goes as well with [name]Henry[/name], [name]Cora[/name], and [name]Jemima[/name]. Something like [name]Henry[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Jemima[/name], and [name]Bridget[/name] seems to fit better, imo, and you could still use the nn [name]Bruna[/name] that way.

Good luck!

[name]Bruna[/name] is my grandmothers name  I also have 3 female cousins named in her honor so lots of [name]Bruna[/name]'s in my very italian family. I was However awfully thankful i was not one of those to carry my grandmothers name. I [name]Love[/name] my grandmother dearly and She is beautiful both inside and out but Her name is dreadful [name]IMO[/name]. Im sorry the name just screams ugly to me and i dont think it fits with your other children.

I find [name]Bruna[/name] to be fine. Not neccessarily a personal favorite of mine, but I do think that it’s a nice name. However, I would discourage you from using it because it really sounds like you don’t like it at all. If you don’t like the sound of a name then don’t try to force it because it fits some sort of other criteria. When you’re introducing your child to strangers or calling her name after her, no one is going to care about what sort of obscure family connections you’ve managed to honor. The connotations that you yourself came up with for the name [name]Bruna[/name] are brutish, porn star, and freaky - this clearly is not the right name for your daughter.
