Out of curiosity, which do you like betterfor a fn-mn combination? [name]Bryan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name], or [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name]?
[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name] for me.
[name]Bryan[/name] is going through its dated phase right now.
I prefer [name]Bryan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]. I think [name]Bryan[/name] is handsome, and will become a classic. [name]Daniel[/name] is a little overdone for me. I always had at least two [name]Daniel[/name]'s in my class growing up, and it looks like it’s popularity hasn’t really dropped much since then either.
[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name]. I have to be honest and say I am not really a fan of either name.
[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name] has the better flow as a combo. I think [name]Bryan[/name] is a little dated (it was in the top 10 in the 1970’s due in part to a football movie named “[name]Brian[/name]'s Song”). [name]Daniel[/name] is such a classic boys name that it’s quite ageless.
[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name] for me, as well! My problem with [name]Bryan[/name] is not that it’s dated (it is, but I still like it)–I just [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] so much more. I would love to meet a little [name]Daniel[/name], no matter how popular it is.
I prefer [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name]
Hey everyone, thanks for your input. So, the thing I feel conflicted about is that I love the full name, [name]Daniel[/name], but do not at all like the nicknames [name]Dan[/name] or [name]Danny[/name]. I like that with [name]Bryan[/name] there are no common nicknames, and I hate the idea that if my son is named [name]Daniel[/name] that people will just automatically call him [name]Dan[/name]. That’s one reason in favor of [name]Bryan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] over [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name]. On the other hand, I really really like the idea of giving my son a Biblical first name.
Thoughts? Anybody else have this problem?
[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name] sounds better.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]! I think it is a strong name with a positive biblical association.
There is a professional wrestler who is pretty popular named [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name]. His real name is [name]Bryan[/name] Danielson but his professional name is [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name]. [name]Just[/name] FYI.
I prefer the way [name]Bryan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] sounds. I know a couple little Brians and I think this name is poised to break out of its dated feel and make a comeback.
Regarding the nickname, if you only call your son [name]Daniel[/name], I can’t imagine anyone else calling him [name]Dan[/name] or [name]Danny[/name] – I certainly wouldn’t. Of course, chances are pretty good that when he gets older, he will decide to go by one of these nicknames, so if you really hate them and think you would still hate them when he’s old enough to choose his own nickname, probably best to stay away. What do you think about the name [name]Brighton[/name] (prn. brite-uhn, just light it looks)? This name is not particularly my style, but it just popped into my mind as an alternative for you if you don’t love the feel of [name]Bryan[/name] as a first name. [name]Brighton[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] sounds quite nice. Maybe there’s a similar name to [name]Daniel[/name] that would get you away from the nicknames, but I can’t think of it right now. I leave those kinds of things up to better Berries than me.
Whoops, also meant to say that I know a little Daniel who is always called Daniel, but he is only 1, so his parents still have control. But everyone I know calls him Daniel, even when his parents aren’t around, because they only ever call him Daniel.
I like [name]Bryan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] better too because i hate [name]Dan[/name] and [name]Danny[/name].
[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name] (:
I like [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name] better. [name]Bryan[/name] is pretty dated. If you want there are plenty of other biblical names that are less likely to be nicknamed.
Ex: [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Adam[/name], [name]Levi[/name], [name]Judah[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Luke[/name]…
My son’s name is [name]Daniel[/name], and (to my knowledge) he’s never been called [name]Dan[/name] or [name]Danny[/name]. Ok, I just asked him to find out what happens behind the scenes at school. He says he is only called [name]Daniel[/name]; however, there have been a couple of isolated occasions when someone has said “[name]Dan[/name].”
@Roxanne33: LOL, funny you should mention the wrestler, because that’s EXACTLY where my husband and I got he idea for this name!! His favorite wrestler is [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Bryan[/name]! So we like the name because for him, our son would be named after his fav wrestler, and for me, our son would be named from the Bible. End result is we both get a name we love.
Also, thanks to all pps for your input, especially about the whole nickname problem. That makes me feel a lot more confident about [name]Daniel[/name] as a first name if you think people really would call him [name]Daniel[/name], not [name]Dan[/name] or [name]Danny[/name].
Ditto this.
@[name]Princess[/name]: It sounds like we have husbands cut from the same cloth. If we should ever have a boy, I know I am going to have to hear the suggestion “[name]Shawn[/name] [name]Michael[/name]” over and over again! Good luck!
