Brynn?

Thoughts on this name for girls? I remember first really becoming acquainted with it when there was a dancer on the tv show Dance Moms with the name. What do you think?

I like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] a lot! I think it has a very strong and nature-inspired flair to it. I do sometimes find it a little too short and abrupt as a first name though.

I absolutely LOVE the name [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], its just so gorgeous. its well known but not too popular, goes well with a lot of middles and is very pretty in general!!

I have difficulty liking this name on girls mainly because the original name is [name_u]Bryn[/name_u], and itā€™s a Welsh boys name. Personally, I think if you want to use names from other cultures you should at least keep the to the same gender.

Sort of masculine sounding and a bit abrupt. I prefer [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] sound-wise if Iā€™m honest. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is much more modern/fresh of course. I think it would be cute and versatile on the right person but might leave some women longing for a more feminine name.

I love [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]! So pretty and simple.

I love [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] top name was [name_u]Noa[/name_u]-[name_u]Bryn[/name_u] for a long time!

I love [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]!

Iā€™m not a fan of its sound but itā€™s quite nice.

Brynn is beautiful! I like it a lot.

Brynn is super sweet! I love it. I also really like [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f].

My best friend has a little sister named that, & she hates it. She really wishes her parents had just named her [name_u]Brinley[/name_u]. It drives her nuts to constantly have to spell ([name_m]Ad[/name_m] in some occasions, even PRONOUNCE) her name for people.

Oh, here [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f] is the most common spelling I see. Iā€™ve never seen [name_u]Brinley[/name_u] before where I live. It seems pretty easily accessible here. I work with children and Iā€™ve come across [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f] a few times.

Where are you from? [name_m]Just[/name_m] name your province/state or country, or something like that. Weā€™re in southern USA.

I love [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. Sweet, sharp and cool

I agree with this 100%.

I love [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]! Itā€™s not a boy name on a girl either. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is seen as the feminine version of [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] (which is regarded as a unisex name anyways). So itā€™s not using a name from another culture on the opposite gender.

@ITheNameaholic [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f] is actually the most common spelling nationally. #187 vs #385.

I love the name [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] (more for boys, but it could work for either), but find double nā€™s annoying. I also like [name_f]Bryony[/name_f], nn [name_u]Bryn[/name_u].

Bryn is most definitely a male Welsh name. It isnā€™t unisex. Adding another ā€˜nā€™ doesnā€™t make it a girls name either. Using [name_u]Bryn[/name_u]/Brynn on a girl is a perfect example of taking a name from another culture and changing the gender. If I asked any member of my Welsh family about the name [name_u]Bryn[/name_u], theyā€™d say it was male. If I asked them about the name [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], theyā€™d say it was [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] spelt incorrectly. [name_m]Even[/name_m] my phone thinks [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is a typo!

It originated as a male name. It has transitioned into being a unisex name. Lots of names have done that. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because itā€™s unisex doesnā€™t mean it canā€™t or shouldnā€™t be used on a boy. There is nothing inherently masculine about the name (it means ā€œhillā€) and honestly, if people across the ocean think itā€™s a boy name on a girl, so be it. No one in the US will think that :woman_shrugging:t3:.

Also, my family is quite Welsh. If I use [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], it will absolutely be to honor that. So itā€™s not really taking a name from another culture in that caseā€¦
