Bryony/Briony?

Hey berries,

I’m one day past my due date and we still haven’t decided on a name for our third baby girl!
When DH and I were discussing names last night, he suggested [name]Bryony[/name]. He sai one of his coworkers thought it would go excellent with our daughters’ names; [name]Odette[/name] and [name]Acacia[/name].
I actually love [name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name], and it’s one name to add to our little list that we’re taking to the hospital.

What do you think? What spelling would you use?

We were thinking about:
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name] [name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name] [name]Jacqueline[/name]

This would add to our list which contains:
[name]Thisbe[/name] [name]Lavender[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name]

I think [name]Bryony[/name] is quirky and beautiful; just right for us. Thoughts?

[name]Love[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] (this spelling) [name]Madeleine[/name] and I think it fits with your daughters’ names very well (I absolutely love their names, btw). It replaces [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] as my favorite on your short list, because the “blind” meaning of [name]Cecily[/name] has always bothered me. Plus, it avoids having the double-C in both [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Acacia[/name].

Good luck, you can’t really go wrong with any of these names!

[name]Briony[/name] is very pretty - a nature name that goes well with [name]Acacia[/name] and [name]Odette[/name]. I think the original spelling is [name]Briony[/name], but you may have less problems with pronunciation if you spelled it [name]Bryony[/name]. [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] is so pretty! (For the record, [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] is another favorite of mine from your list.)

[name]Thisbe[/name] [name]Lavender[/name] is my favorite.
how [name]Briony[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] is lovely.
I also love [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name].
you cant go wrong with your names! good luck!

Actually, I believe that [name]Bryony[/name] is the original and the spelling of the plant (Latin [name]Bryonia[/name]). Normally I prefer fewer Ys in any spelling option, but I think that [name]Bryony[/name] might be clearer, as well as more traditional. I think [name]Bryony[/name] fits perfectly with your girls, though [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Thisbe[/name] are gorgeous, too. I really like [name]Imogen[/name], but I don’t find it as quirky or unusual as your other options.

1 [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] - I’m not a fan of names that are heavy on the y’s but this name is the only one I can think of that I like. [name]Bryony[/name] is the original spelling of the plant so I think it’s best. I love [name]Clementine[/name] but a tree and a fruit combo may be too much nature.

2 [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name]
3 [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]
4 [name]Thisbe[/name] [name]Lavender[/name]

I think I prefer the [name]Briony[/name] spelling. We’ve both been pronouncing it [name]Bree[/name]-on-ee and the [name]Bryony[/name] spelling might lead people to say [name]Brian[/name]-ee.
DH likes the [name]Bryony[/name] spelling more.

DH loves this name! More than [name]Cecily[/name], which was his original favorite on our list. I really like it too :).

Thanks for all the comments, and keep em coming!

I love the name, prefer the [name]Briony[/name] spelling (I don’t like the two “Ys” in [name]Bryony[/name], just my view, [name]Bryony[/name] is just as lovely.)

I love love [name]Briony[/name] with your other two girls. I think it works a lot better than your other choices, though I still love [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name].

I think, of your choices, I like the flow of [name]Briony[/name] [name]Jacqueline[/name] best, but [name]Briony[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] has a ring to it as well. [name]Briony[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] isn’t bad, I’ve just never been a fan of [name]Clementine[/name], myself, so I think personal opinion is turning me off from it.

I have to say that i much prefer the [name]Bryony[/name] spelling and am thinking of it for myself on a future list. also love eithe [name]Bridie[/name] or [name]Birdie[/name] as [name]Nick[/name] names

I think that [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] would work bet with your sibsets.

regarding your other names on you list i [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name], am not to keen on [name]Thisbe[/name] however, but love [name]Lavender[/name] as a middle names.

[name]Briony[/name]/[name]Bryony[/name] is most commonly pronounced as “BRY-oh-nee”.

I agree with [name]Mischa[/name]. [name]Bryony[/name] is the traditional spelling with the pronunciation [name]Mischa[/name] cited. I don’t have a problem with your pronunciation, but you might want to spell it accordingly. [name]Briony[/name] still makes me start with “brion” when I read it. Maybe Breony? Not as pretty, though.

My favorite from your list is [name]Thisbe[/name] [name]Lavendar[/name]. Such a beautiful, unique name that fits nicely with sisters’ names.

I do like [name]Briony[/name] (this spelling). But I still prefer [name]Thisbe[/name] in your case.
From your [name]Briony[/name] combos, I like [name]Briony[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] best.

I love [name]Bryony[/name]! I prefer this spelling. I like [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] the best. I also like [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Clementine[/name], but that’s just a bit too much nature together for me. I’ve always been partial to [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]/[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Elise[/name]… I think [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] would be perfect with your girls, but I don’t know if you want to use two of your top contenders together?

Good luck!

I love [name]Bryony[/name] (that spelling) with your girls. [name]Odette[/name] and [name]Acacia[/name] both have double letters so I thnk it’s only “fair” that Ms. [name]Bryony[/name] gets one too! I also agree with others that i’ve only see it pronounced Bry-onee (kinda a cross between two and three syllables with the “o” syllable either being it’s own quick syllable or blending in with the nee ending). [name]One[/name] of my twins has this middle name: [name]Alice[/name] [name]Bryony[/name].

[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] is so pretty! I love your girl’s quirky, but pretty names. Best of luck w/ your upcoming delivery.

[name]Bryony[/name] has always been a favorite of mine. Today it is my second favorite girls name. I love the combo [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Elise[/name].
