– a quaint family dormitory near the center of the space station, in a hallway filled with other dormitories. it’s a little small, but it has everything you need and the glass-lined observation deck is just a few steps away, and you treasure the view of the starry sky. it’s also right in the middle of the ship’s bustling square, where there are tons of activities and shops that your whole family enjoys.

– a spacious dwelling on the upper part of the ship with large windows in the common area. you have to share a bathroom with nearby rooms and the cafeteria is a bit far away, but it is absolutely beautiful and the light from the star you orbit is always shining. it’s an ideal space for art and music and can be filled with all of your friends.

– a large, bustling double dwelling unit shared with another family. these people are your absolute best friends in the world and you take on the task of living and raising families together as a group. It’s a little cramped and there is always a line for the bathroom, but your closest companions are always nearby. you have the rhythm down to a science and everyone together is both chaotic and harmonious.

– a dwelling at the back of the ship near the space port, a bit separate from other dwellings. it’s quiet, clean, and has easy access to the port and the doors to the outside. although it can be a little secluded from the rest of the ship, it is a space for you to be at peace and spend time relaxing. you would get remarkably restful sleep in this dwelling.

– zero gravity chamber! some thrill-seeking citizens like to do flips and tricks in the zero gravity chamber on their days off, or maybe even just float around. although the gravity within the space station is controlled, there are two zero gravity chambers for explorers to practice and for citizens to try for fun!

– space walk! those who don’t get to leave the ship very often enjoy a peaceful space walk on their day off! they can be tethered to the space station and float out into space to get a view of the stars! the view from out there is immeasurably beautiful and calming!

– star mapping! those with an interest in mapping and exploration like to volunteer with the star mapping crew on their days off! citizens can operate cameras and telescopes onboard the station to help map out, identify, and name stars! but some just like to look at faraway stars up close for fun!

– the space station’s birthday! the celebration of the day the [name_f]Serendipity[/name_f] space station was inhabited by its very first citizens. there is a large gathering in the cafeteria for celebratory dinner followed by a dance in the observation chamber under the cover of stars.

– the anniversary of the departure! a more somber affair, the remembrance of the first departure of humans from earth toward the very first space stations. this holiday is full of emotion and gratitude for loved ones. poetry readings of old and new writings are held throughout the space station and, although the air is a bit heavy, it is a time for family and friends to gather each other close

– the ancestor’s day! a chance for citizens of the [name_f]Serendipity[/name_f] to connect with each other through a sharing of customs, food, and art from their various ancestral cultures. citizens of the [name_f]Serendipity[/name_f] descend from all walks of life, from people all around the universe, and over time a new shared culture was developed onboard the station. however, people still keep their ancestors’ varied traditions alive, and this holiday invites them all to be shared and celebrated.

6 (DC 6) – which planet do you dream of visiting one day?
– nexus 22; a hot, fiery planet that orbits Sirius’s neighboring star. nexus 22 is partially covered in glowing molten lava. it has three very active volcanoes and a searing surface temperature. its often visited for its rock resources, as some specialized vessels can land to collect samples. sometimes, when the timing window is on their side, tourists can land in one of these special vessels on nexus 22s cooler side and marvel at the fiery volcanic landscape

– gloriana; this planet is so bright that it was first thought to be a star! its surface reflects enough light from its star to be seen at long distances, and its recently discovered oceans emanate a watery glow. you can’t walk on gloriana, but it is a wonder to behold from a spaceship (with proper eye protection, of course). many consider visiting gloriana to be a life-altering experience, and it is considered to bring good fortune to your family.

– marlin sg19; marlin sg19 is located just at the limit of the distance that ships from the [name_f]Serendipity[/name_f] can travel; ships could reach it but would not be able to return. it is known to be an earthlike planet, but has never been able to be visited. from images, scientists on the [name_f]Serendipity[/name_f] know that marlin sg19 has beautiful crystalline oceans and lush greenery, but have not been able to determine if there is intelligent life on the planet.

– big violet; one of the few nearby planets that can be landed on, big violet is a beautiful and very large planet with vast craters and mountains. the minerals in big violet’s soil give it a soft purple hue, hence the name, and it sparkles softly underneath your feet. soil samples from this planet can also be collected to use for making paints and jewelry. this planet has a very weak atmosphere, so suits must be worn!

7 (DC/DC 3) – while cleaning your dwelling one day, you discover something tucked into a crevice behind the boxes in your closet. you pull it out to see that it is an old notepad with most of its pages ripped out. you have no idea how old it is. only two pieces of paper are left, thin and a little wrinkled, but you can see that there is something written on it. it says exactly what you need to hear right now:
– “sometimes the universe seems so vast and endless. it is overwhelming that i will never see and know everything it contains, but it thrills me to know that there is still so much left for me to discover. isn’t it comforting to think that as long as we stay curious, we will never run out of places to explore?”
