Burke?

My husband and I both love “[name]Burke[/name]” but hate that when said aloud, it can sound like “[name]Bert[/name]”! What do YOU think?

Our other contenders are:
[name]Clarke[/name]
[name]Christian[/name]
[name]Brooks[/name]

I’d love similar suggestions!

I agree that it could get confused for [name]Bert[/name]. :-S. [name]Brooks[/name] seems like a logical next step, though. What about [name]James[/name], [name]Hudson[/name], [name]Harrison[/name], [name]Dax[/name], [name]Dashiell[/name]/[name]Dash[/name], or [name]Luke[/name]?

I don’t think it sounds like [name]Bert[/name] at all. I think it’s charming!

I like it, it’s nms but like roseythelimited said it’s charming and I think you’re reading too much into the [name]Bert[/name] sound. Very usable!

It’s a bad word in UK/Commonwealth countries. It’s a synonym for the c-word.

[name]Clark[/name] is much nicer, in any case.

Have you considered [name]Beck[/name]?

Oh I love [name]Burke[/name]!!! It’s at the top of my boys list! I think that usually, people will understand and here the correct name. Definitely [name]Burke[/name]!!

[name]Burke[/name] has very negative connotations in the UK and various other countries. The world is small,I wouldn’t do it.

Why not use it for a middle name? Otherwise I like [name]Brooks[/name]. Or…
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Brenton[/name]
[name]Brit[/name]
[name]Brent[/name]
[name]Edison[/name]
[name]Reed[/name]
[name]Scott[/name]
[name]Heath[/name]
[name]Dean[/name]
[name]Carlton[/name]
[name]Hale[/name]
[name]Davis[/name]
