Burnt out on boy names

We are trying to come up with a boy name we both like. Too many people we know, maybe too picky? Avoiding names starting with L, dislike the x trend. So far the list:

[name_m]Hadrian[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m], called [name_u]Joss[/name_u]
Rillian
[name_m]Bastian[/name_m]
[name_u]Holden[/name_u]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m]
Rehden
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] (too popular as a girl name now?)
[name_u]Wylie[/name_u] (middle name?)
Camden
Arden
Florian
Meyer

There’s a lot of [name_m]Williams[/name_m], some Josephs, some [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] we’d like to acknowledge too in first or middle name inspirations but maybe not directly same name.
Thoughts?

Names that I think might suit your style include:

Wilkie
[name_u]Rylan[/name_u]/Ryland
[name_u]Hayes[/name_u]
[name_m]Jethro[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonty[/name_m]
[name_m]Beaumont[/name_m]
[name_m]Baxter[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Buckley[/name_m]
[name_m]Smith[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]

From you current list I love [name_u]Florian[/name_u] and [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], and also quite like [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], and [name_u]Camden[/name_u].

I don’t personally think [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]’s gender neutral usage is an issue worth giving it up if you both really like the name. I’m not a fan myself, but ultimately this is about what you and your partner like and can agree to.

With middles I have a few suggestions, largely linguistic variants of the family names you listed.

Some variations of [name_m]William[/name_m]:
[name_m]Wilhelm[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilkin[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilmot[/name_m]
[name_u]Liam[/name_u]
[name_m]Guillermo[/name_m]
[name_m]Guillem[/name_m]
[name_m]Gui[/name_m]
[name_m]Vilhelm[/name_m]
[name_m]Vilko[/name_m]
[name_m]Vilmos[/name_m]
[name_m]Ville[/name_m]

And so similar names like [name_m]Wilmer[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], or a slight stretch with [name_u]Wilder[/name_u].

Some variations of [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]:
[name_m]Jose[/name_m]/José
[name_m]Joseba[/name_m]
[name_m]Josephus[/name_m]
[name_f]Joska[/name_f]
Joso
Guiseppe
Ioseph
Ioseb
[name_m]Yosef[/name_m]
[name_m]Youssef[/name_m]
Zef

And then similar sounding names like [name_m]Josias[/name_m]/Josiah/Josian, [name_m]Justus[/name_m], or [name_m]Jonas[/name_m].

And with [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], there really aren’t any language variants, BUT [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] originates from a place name- the name of a tributary of the river [name_m]Clyde[/name_m]. So [name_m]Clyde[/name_m], or even [name_u]River[/name_u], could be used to honor a [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] if you weren’t set on using the name itself.

Names that don’t share a meaning with [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], but resemble [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], include:
[name_m]Deangelo[/name_m]
[name_m]Deegan[/name_m]
[name_m]Digby[/name_m]
[name_m]Digory[/name_m]/Diggory
[name_m]Domingo[/name_m]
[name_m]Donaghue[/name_m]
[name_m]Dougherty[/name_m]
[name_m]Dugall[/name_m]
[name_m]Dwight[/name_m]
[name_m]Dalton[/name_m]
[name_u]Davis[/name_u]
[name_m]Dawson[/name_m]
[name_m]Dennis[/name_m]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_m]Duncan[/name_m]
[name_m]Dunston[/name_m]

Out of your list I love Caspian and Joseph and Hadrian.
I’ll make suggestions of finnian or Finnegan

As honour names for William Joseph and Douglas etc.

Liam
Willoughby

Joel
Joe
Seth

Dougie
Dougal

My favourite from your list is [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is a cute combo.

How about [name_u]Seth[/name_u], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Willis[/name_m], [name_u]Killian[/name_u], [name_u]Rio[/name_u], [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_u]Vernon[/name_u], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] or [name_m]Sampson[/name_m]?

I absolutely love [name_u]Florian[/name_u] and [name_u]Joss[/name_u]! And I really like [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] too.

How about [name_m]Emilian[/name_m]? I love it! Maybe [name_m]Emilian[/name_m] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] or [name_m]Emilian[/name_m] [name_u]Wylie[/name_u], as a nod to all of your [name_m]Williams[/name_m]?

I adore Bastian, it’s one of my top names! How about Bastian Wilkie or Bastian Wilbur? These work if you want to honour a William without using William directly. I also adore Caspian.

How about:

[name_m]Winston[/name_m]
[name_u]Killian[/name_u]
[name_u]Gus[/name_u]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m]

Josiah [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Riordan[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Rainier[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]

My favorites from your list are [name_u]Holden[/name_u], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_u]Arden[/name_u] & [name_m]Bastian[/name_m]. [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] would probably be my pick for you from that list. [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] and [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] are lovely!
[name_u]Camden[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] are leaning more on the feminine side, I know at least a few girls named either of those in our area. (Wisconsin) I don’t know anyone with the first name [name_u]Wylie[/name_u] but it definitely sounds like [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] to me.

I really like @nightowls suggestions of [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]!

Ryland [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Ryland[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Ryland[/name_m] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]

Those all sound fantastic! I do really like a somewhat uncommon or unusual first name with a solid classic like [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or [name_m]William[/name_m] as a MN. Some other options that match with the offbeat style of your suggestions might be [name_m]Conrad[/name_m], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_u]Ryker[/name_u], [name_u]Declan[/name_u] or [name_u]Wilder[/name_u]! And they would all pair well with [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m] or offshoots of those names ([name_u]Liam[/name_u], [name_u]Jo[/name_u], etc.)

Good luck!
