By Air or by... the car rental place? Thoughts on Avis?

[name]Just[/name] cruising around on nameberry, when I found the name [name]Avis[/name]. I think it’s pretty. So I click on it and find:
[name]Avis[/name] is a bird name that’s been in hibernation for awhile, possibly due to the car rental association, but it could make a return on the wings of [name]Ava[/name].

What are your thoughts on the name? Pretty and [name]Unique[/name]? Car Rental Place? “Not your style”? Would you be confused if little [name]Avis[/name] was introduced to you at the playground?

I haven’t yet fallen completely in love with it, but I feel like I possibly could… Could you?

I kind of love it.

But…the car rental place has, indeed, ruined it for me. :confused: Then again, once it was on a person that I knew, I’d probably get over that pretty quickly.

Pity, but I associate it with car rentals. I’d try to overcome the association if I knew a child with the name, but every time I passed through an airport, I’d be reminded. Nay.

Might I suggest [name]Avice[/name]? It’s a legitimate spelling variation of [name]Avis[/name] that leaves behind the car rental association.

I like it… I think it’s a pretty and unique name.
I’d use it as a nn and try to find a longer full name to match it incase the car rental association proves too much for others to handle.

I love it- also the meaning is really nice- would have been a top contender if the car rental place didn’t ruin it for me…

I also like [name]Avita[/name]- which i hear is a drug name in the US so not too much concern for us Aussies…

I also like [name]Evita[/name] but hear there is some bad connotations with that name…

I don’t dislike it exactly but it sounds close to [name]Mavis[/name], people might mishear it, and it suffers from a similar anatomical problem to [name]Anais[/name] and [name]Angus[/name] and [name]Amos[/name].

The car rental place isn’t a bad association to me. It’s a big association, yes, but certainly not bad. I like that it’s familiar and close to [name]Ava[/name] but different at the same time.

I like [name]Avis[/name], but the car rental place is too strong and pervasive an association for me to take.

I hate it when attractive baby names become brand names! Companies should always be named things like Hertz and Budget.

[name]Avis[/name] is gorgeous! I’ve never heard of the car rental place but even that wouldn’t deter me from wanting to know an [name]Avis[/name].

I love it just like I love sephora! I think once it’s on a baby you won’t associate it with a car rental anymore.
