Caesar?

Ok, so I took my stepson to go see [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] of the Planet of the Apes today (great movie by the way) and it got me to thinking about the name [name_m]Caesar[/name_m]. Its not one that id ever thought much about as im mostly drawn to traditional/classic names, but i seem to have hit a roadblock in my search for a name for my first born who’s due in 6 weeks. I had just about narrowed it down to [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but then today i found myself really loving the way [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] sounds.

Thoughts?

There’s a boy at my school named [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] and he wears it well. I think it’s a cool name with a lot of history.

I think it’s a cool name with lots of history. I think you should consider it. I also want to throw out [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] because it’s also an awesome name.

It’s not a name to me. It’s just a title. And a salad. And a pizza.

It’s a guilty pleasure name for me. Maybe too out there for a first but I feel like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] could flow well depending on the last name X

I prefer the Italian [name_m]Cesare[/name_m] ([name_m]Che[/name_m]-zar-ay).

Naming your kid ‘emperor’ is very pretentious in my opinion. [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] is a fine name for an animal, but I don’t think it works on a human. It’s trying too hard, I would stick to Oscar or Henry.

Totally a salad to me!

[name_m]Cesar[/name_m] would be okay, but I don’t think [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] works very well. In addition to meaning emperor, there is the whole salad thing, and the alcoholic beverage…

I think its usable, with names like [name_m]King[/name_m] and [name_m]Duke[/name_m] in use it fits with that group but sounds more like a name.

Thanks for the feedback, it’s definitely the most “left field” name we’ve come up with, I just really love the sound of it. The [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] salad thing doesn’t concern me too much as that’s just named after a guy named [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] anyway, to me it’s more of a name than a salad. But I see how naming your child after an emperor might sound pretentious, it’s not the intent but definitely something to consider.

I totally agree with this. I love Chicken [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] salad wraps!

First thought that I think of when I hear [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] is [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] Flickerman from the Hunger Games and because of that I personally don’t thinl it’s useable as a first name but it sounds pretty cool for a middle name.

People use king reign princess queen royal and so on for kids now a days so I wouldn’t worry on that my first thought isn’t salad it’s the pizza place mainly because I don’t like their pizza … [name_f]My[/name_f] next is the history connection’s after that I think of salad

[name_m]Caesar[/name_m] is name a classy name that will always hold a special place in my heart. It has history attached to it. ([name_m]Julius[/name_m] [name_m]Caesar[/name_m])
I think it’s a pretty handsome name, but that’s just the classics geek in me talking.

I grew up with two guys named [name_m]Caesar[/name_m]/[name_m]Cesar[/name_m] (a Mexican [name_m]Cesar[/name_m], and a Romanian [name_m]Caesar[/name_m]), and I really like it myself. It sort of looks/feels like [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], which is sort of coming into style, so I can see it really taking off. I would be more likely to use [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], personally, but I really like [name_m]Caesar[/name_m], too! I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] best of your options, but I think something like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] would be really cool.
