[name_u]Willow[/name_u] [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] (3) is Hunter’s daughter.

[name_u]Willow[/name_u] is a sweet little girl who sometimes is prone to being a bit spoiled. She sometimes throws tantrums when she doesn’t get her way. But she is very loving nonetheless. She is into ballet and gymnastics, something she enjoys with a passion but what she really wants to do is play with the bugs outside in her yard. [name_u]Willow[/name_u] enjoys finding special rocks as she is a sensitive girl who likes to name her rocks and keep them in her room as a collection. She’s also a little rockstar, singing with her toy guitar her mom got her along with her best friends.

[name_f]Salna[/name_f] [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] (26) is Willow’s maternal aunt and Hunter’s sister. She’s a huge fan of Willow’s wholesome little rock collection and loves to see what kind of rocks she finds; whether they’re metamorphic, sedimentary, or igneous. She’s a nerd who likes to talk about rock types and while she’d never put herself or her family in front of the cameras, she jokes her family is “like one big sitcom”. [name_f]Salna[/name_f] has recently felt quite miffed because she thought she was pregnant and got really excited, only to realise she wasn’t pregnant. She’s not held this against [name_u]Willow[/name_u] or [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] at all thankfully and doesn’t seem like she’d ever do so. In fact, she was shocked when [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] found out she was pregnant with [name_u]Willow[/name_u] but supported her and lent a hand. She’s seen some of Willow’s gymnastics friends and likes how nice they are to [name_u]Willow[/name_u] but she feels one of them is hiding a secret, although [name_f]Salna[/name_f] has no interest in prying onto that.

[name_u]Forest[/name_u] [name_f]Mariam[/name_f] Krueger (6) is a girl in Willow’s gymnastics class.

[name_u]Forest[/name_u] may be considerably older than [name_u]Willow[/name_u], but the two girls are still extremely close. Bonding over their shared plant-based, hippyish names, [name_u]Forest[/name_u] and [name_u]Willow[/name_u] are thick as thieves. [name_u]Forest[/name_u] is very good at gymnastics, and she helps [name_u]Willow[/name_u] learn how to do the more tricky exercises. [name_u]Forest[/name_u] also loves Willow’s rock collection and likes to help name them.

[name_u]Forest[/name_u] herself enjoys fashion and is a little trendsetter. She once got half the kindergarten class (the girls, and possibly two boys) to start wearing bows in their hair and leggings because she was doing it and she said that bows and leggings are the coolest things to wear. She’s very proud of her ability to persuade people, something her parents are trying to work on with her as she often tries to persuade them to give her extra treats at dinner, and always makes the best arguments. She could very well be a lawyer when she grows up.

Lately, [name_u]Forest[/name_u] has been keeping a secret. It’s not anything horrible, it’s actually a rather nice thing, but she’s keeping it a secret because she isn’t sure whether or not it will actually happen. She’s keeping it a secret in case it falls through. The secret is that her family is going to hopefully be adopting a little boy from [name_f]Africa[/name_f]! [name_u]Forest[/name_u] has talked to the 9-year-old boy over video chat, and they kind of hit it off. [name_u]Forest[/name_u] showed him her personal sunglasses and bow collection and he demonstrated to her his native language from where he’s from. [name_u]Forest[/name_u] is excited for the new addition to the family, even if at first she wasn’t sure about it. She’s looking forward to it now and always asks her mother how her friend is doing and when she can see him. The potential adopted boy is coming to stay for a few days to test out what it’s like and if he’s a good fit for the family, and everyone in the family could not be more excited.

Next: whatever you want. But a suggestion is that you could possibly be the boy being adopted from [name_f]Africa[/name_f]? I don’t care though do whatever.

tw: people perceving him in a stereotypical way, people talking about his potential adoptive parents being “white saviors”

[name_m]Julius[/name_m] Balondemu Auma (9) is the boy that Forest’s family is potentially adopting. [name_m]Julius[/name_m] was born and raised in Kampala, Uganda. Kampala is a huge city, and [name_m]Julius[/name_m] spent a lot of his childhood exploring, playing soccer with friends, and going to school. His parents, though, both passed last year in a car crash and he has been staying with an uncle, but it isn’t permanent. His uncle had told foster care that he was unable to care for [name_m]Julius[/name_m] for long but would take care of him until they found a permanent solution. He and his uncle have a great relationship, but they both know it isn’t going to work out, and so they both hope that the Krueger’s are a great fit!

[name_m]Julius[/name_m] really liked [name_u]Forest[/name_u] when they video-chatted. Though she seems a little crazy, he likes her sparkly attitude and how she talks to him like a friend, even though they just met. He taught her some Swahili, his native language, and hopes he will be able to teach her more! He knows how much he will miss his friends in Uganda, all the wildlife he got to see with his family, his whole life, and he knows it will be very different in the US, but he is also so excited! The Kruegers have said that if he wants, they can sign him up for soccer team and Swahili lessons so that he can remember the language and they can call his friends and uncle whenever he wants. He likes how they understand the trauma he went through and what he likes to do, and he hopes they will be a good fit. [name_m]Julius[/name_m] has never been on a plane, though, and he is a little nervous for when he pays a visit to his potential new family soon.

There have been some problems though, and [name_m]Julius[/name_m] has overheard his uncle, the foster care people, and the Krueger parents talking about things that make him nervous. People in the Krueger’s community have been talking about how he must be “skinny” and “doesn’t know english” and “how will he survive in such a suburban place”. While [name_m]Julius[/name_m] knows he can prove them wrong, it still makes him uncomfortable, and he is very nervous about meeting those people. There has also been talk of the Krueger’s adopting him so they seem like saviors and above everyone else. Kids is his class and people in his community have even said this! [name_m]Julius[/name_m] doesn’t think it’s true, but if it is, he most definitley doesn’t want to go to them. His uncle has reassured him that all will be okay, and encourages him to remember to be strong, and that he is a courageous boy. [name_m]Julius[/name_m] hopes that is true.

Warning for death of sibling/sibling-in-law and aforementioned stereotypes.

[name_m]Samuka[/name_m] “ [name_m]Sam[/name_m] “ [name_m]Dembe[/name_m] Auma (22) is Julius’s uncle and a strong ally of his placement in his new family. He was only 20 at the time, plus he was too grief-stricken to really consider himself a good guardian to [name_m]Julius[/name_m]. He wants to make it clear that he cares, but when something doesn’t feel right, he’s really sure of this. [name_m]Sam[/name_m] knows this will hurt and that Julius’s new life will not magically erase away his pain. He was admittedly unsure about [name_m]Julius[/name_m] being the only [name_m]Black[/name_m] child of the Krueger family. [name_m]Sam[/name_m] wouldn’t have been so supportive had the family just immediately forced him to be “normal” and ignored his culture. [name_m]Sam[/name_m] feels like he has a role, not as Julius’s legal guardian, but as an adult in the Krueger life that can get them to understand Ugandan culture more. [name_m]Sam[/name_m] works as a street vendor in Uganda and is the best at cooking Rolex (which is not a watch brand in Uganda but rather a casual meal and slang for “rolled eggs”) and tells them about the history of the country. [name_m]Sam[/name_m] doesn’t know exactly how he stands with the Kruegers. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though he is smart, he’s not very brave and can be a pushover. He wouldn’t have been able to handle the stereotyping kids in Julius’s life but he has to be a good example for [name_m]Julius[/name_m] to be brave, despite [name_m]Sam[/name_m] himself not being so.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Sam[/name_m] is often in his comfort zone, which he feels has dramatically changed over the years. He used to never use public transportation and preferred to drive himself, though he’s had doubts since the car accident. This is a positive in a sense, since [name_m]Sam[/name_m] used to fear public transportation, but he feels he’s overcoming this in the wrong way. But in his defence, he didn’t choose[name_f][/name_f] to lose loved ones! [name_m]Sam[/name_m] worries for [name_m]Julius[/name_m] leaving so much in his Ugandan home life, especially since [name_m]Sam[/name_m] himself rarely leaves Uganda. He has flown to the US since [name_m]Julius[/name_m] was formally adopted, even though he knows flying is technically public transportation. He is aware plane crashes are far more rare than car crashes but he still found the experience strange. [name_m]Sam[/name_m] isn’t the type to be annoying on long-haul flights, though he worries he does annoy people. Since moving out from his parents’ house, he’s realised he’s more of that relative who’s enjoyable to visit but not to live with. Fortunately his siblings have tolerated him for that, and [name_m]Sam[/name_m] doesn’t grieve less just because he’s that way. Often times he lets people walk all over him, which is another reason why he’s not a good guardian figure, though it’s helped him avoid conflict. [name_m]Sam[/name_m] is nice, but honestly, he’s just too[name_f][/name_f] nice.
