It was a surprise to his traditional family when he, one, moved to the US at age 19, and two, took his wifeâs last name opposed to her taking his. His younger brother would soon follow [name_m]Otto[/name_m] to the US, settling in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]York[/name_u] City for college. His parents were much more open to this seeing as he had [name_m]Otto[/name_m] in the same countryâŠand his future wife did take Aaberg as her last name. [name_m]Otto[/name_m] has brought [name_f]Lily[/name_f] to see his family and where he grew up a few times, and they have come to visit him too, though his older sister is nervous about crime rate and has only visited once. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] hasnât gotten to visit yet, though she really really wants to. She has not yet met her cousins [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_f]Helmi[/name_f], & [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], who are Ottoâs older sisterâs children and live in Norway. She has seen pictures of them and the places where [name_m]Otto[/name_m] grew up, and he loves how she has fallen in love with the places he adored as a child.
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] met [name_f]Lily[/name_f] when he was 21 and they got married 2 years later. He fell in love with her kind and nurturing nature and her glowing smile. Her soft voice and love of nature reminded him of home, and he very much appreciated her love for his culture. She had never been out of the country before [name_m]Otto[/name_m] took her to [name_u]Germany[/name_u] for the first time, and she loved Europe. They have made so many plans to go back but are waiting for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] to get a bit older since she still has trouble on planes; they learned this when they went to NYC for summer break last year. They do not want a hissy fit on a 10 hour flight!

He has been trying to teach her more Norwegian and [name_m]German[/name_m], and she is almost fluent in [name_m]German[/name_m]. Norwegian is similar, but she still doesnât understand a lot of it. [name_m]Otto[/name_m] plays many songs and shows to [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] in these languages, and feeds her all sorts of food from these places.
[name_f]Nele[/name_f] [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] Aaberg (53) is Ottoâs aunt who lives in Augsburg, Bavaria where she was born. She gets a lot of comments about being an âAaberg from Augsburgâ, which sheâs flattered by. Her brother and sister-in-law are too, although her husband isnât â but heâs fine with his wife keeping her surname. [name_f]Nele[/name_f] is purely [name_m]German[/name_m] though she doesnât mind her niece being in Norway and learning about that culture. [name_f]Nele[/name_f] has two children of her own, one who resides in [name_m]Germany[/name_m], and the other outside â and loves them both the same. Sheâs currently a physical therapist and specialises with athletes, having an athletic life herself. She was always strong and fast and full of team spirit. One of her children is currently an athlete dating an athlete, which [name_f]Nele[/name_f] couldnât be happier for them. Admittedly, she used to thing it was just a flirty fling, but sheâs better now that she knows itâs a true bonding couple. Still, the couple still feels fine in dating and isnât talking about marriageâŠyet.
[name_f]Nele[/name_f] wouldnât mind seeing great-niece [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] visit but she worries her brother is holding it back. She loves [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] together and respects their career ethic. [name_f]Nele[/name_f] has a lot of close friends although many of them she only knew for a short time while one is a long-standing friend. She feels his tight grips are hurting the family and estranging his children away, although sheâs glad his kids are happy where they are in life.
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_m]Thompson[/name_m] (23) is another part of Aurorasâ extended family, being her maternal aunt, and the younger sister of [name_f]Lily[/name_f], whoâs been by her sistersâ side through the struggles of parenthood and finding her way in the world. Sheâs always been a bit less confident than [name_f]Lily[/name_f], preferring to look to her big sister for advice, and when she first met the Aaberg family, very much shied away from them, as she was worried sheâd seem boring in comparison. Thankfully, theyâve been nothing other than lovely, and Ellaâs much more talkative around them now, but nothing can beat how she engages with her niece.
Working as a bridal photographer, Ellaâs lowkey nature means sheâs safe from the insanity that can happen at weddings, and she just gets to focus on things looking lovely. It doesnât mean sheâs in denial about how complex marriage is though, and being happily single works for her completely! She did do the photos when her sister got married though. Funnily enough, [name_f]Ella[/name_f] actually stayed with [name_f]Nele[/name_f] when she was on a trip to Barvaria as part of her college degree, with [name_m]Otto[/name_m] getting them in contact so his then-girlfriendsâ sister wouldnât be in the unknown by herself.

Sheâd just started fully working on her business plan, opening up a venue that hosts evening events - ranging from language teaching to art classes and group therapy sessions - and wanted to use the time available before the project went live to spend time with her children. Mad about sports instead, [name_f]Dally[/name_f] enjoys baseball and tennis most, belonging to teams for both, although theyâre outside of school, as her parents donât want her to endure too much pressure in that environment.
For [name_f]Dally[/name_f] the ultimate advantage of this is it means more friends, and she loves meeting new people at the tournament and competitions she attends. She loves making people laugh and is a natural with jokes. Her best friend actually belongs to another baseball team but games have never impacted the friendship - in fact they encourage each other even when theyâre facing off.

The girls are in the same school, but only got to know each other well after being of rival teams on competition. She records songs and puts them on the internet where she already has a few fans. [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] used to be into dancing as well, but it has ceased to interest her.

He got a degree in a very different field, while moonlighting at a food truck. Then he was asked to help run a workshop at an organic food festival. Over time, this field has drawn him in and now he wants to earn enough money to open his own cafe.
Marcus is an easy-going person who finds it essential to step into the shoes of employees and provide a comfortable environment for both them and visitors. He has a good relationship with his relatives and quite a few friends. However, things are not so smooth in his personal life. He married his high school sweetheart 20 years ago, and they recently decided to talk about divorce for the first time. It wasnât a momentary decision, more like an orderly confluence of circumstances. But it was still hard for both of them. The situation is made worse by the fact that the couple has three teenage children.

[name_m]Born[/name_m] in SalgĂłtarjĂĄn, [name_f]Mirte[/name_f] moved to the States shortly after finishing uni in Budapest, as she wanted a fresh start and to explore new territory. At the time she accepted her current job she was actually considering going back to Hungary, as her prospects werenât really that inspiring, however [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] really helped her optimism return.

Currently her younger brother is also staying with her, her partner and their child, although heâs actually travelling, having plans to go up to [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and then onto Australia.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though sheâs fresh into toddlerhood, [name_f]Nika[/name_f] very much marches to her own drum. Sheâs fascinated by a lot of things her parents find kind of amusing. Notably, [name_f]Nika[/name_f] is fascinated by martial arts. This is because her uncle [name_f][/name_f]- Mirtesâ brother [name_f][/name_f]- has long been involved in those sports and the community associated with them, and heâs absolutely someone [name_f]Nika[/name_f] loves emulating whenever she can.

Itâs actually been a relief for her parents to see this, as [name_f]Nika[/name_f] was absolutely terrified of unfamiliar people when she was younger, so seeing confidence organically flourish has really been something great for them to witness.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] [name_m]Mozes[/name_m] RegĆs (26) is Nikaâs uncle and proud martial arts enthusiast. Ask him what he grew up watching, and heâll say MMA. [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] loves to travel and admittedly he does miss his community when he does, and always keeps in touch. [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] is quite the WhatsApp addict for this reason and tends to be watchful after he sends stuff or when heâs about to receive it. [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] gets flattered when [name_f]Nika[/name_f] emulates him, she did this before she even remembered his name, though heâs happy regardless. [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] used to always emulate people he watched in MMA when he joined the community so he relates in a sense. He found it cringey but genuinely enjoyed it. Heâs really excited about [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and Australia but heâs chill for now, especially since he worries [name_f]Nika[/name_f] will really miss him. [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] has a guilty pleasure in taking travel selfies, even though his two fave places for selfies couldnât be more opposite â nature selfies in the day and city selfies at night! He also really likes dragonflies and fireflies, finding them both really awesome. He sometimes overthinks things, though he mostly does when heâs bored and his mind wanders. [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] isnât a foodie, but people say he âshould beâ. He gets along with Mirteâs partner and likes being able to spend time with him as well. He thinks her partner is nice and appreciates that he doesnât judge him for liking separation despite his tight-knit nature. He loves it and its high energy-fun but heâs glad itâs not his whole life, and his fighter skills make it clear. Being in that truck is enough continuous time for him as it is with the others at any given time. Heâs unaware that [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] is getting a divorce but itâs best he doesnât know. He never pries into othersâ romantic lives, a big reason why heâs respected so much by Mirteâs partner. Also truthfully [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] would hate if Marcusâs teens were to ask him for advice and all he could say was that there âwasnât anything that could be doneâ to change Marcusâs feelings. He hates to tell people when fate is inevitable. He is acutely aware of Hannahâs hamster [name_f]Miley[/name_f] dying, and the fact that it happened and canât be reversed. So hearing more bad news would make it difficult for him, even though Marcusâs teens all know about it themselves. [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] likes to think of the good sides in life and feels he could never truly hate life and the world, despite it being so far from perfect.

He claims his nickname was given to him, since neither of his siblings have nicknames like that, but it was actually self-given. Heâs also the self-proclaimed king of pinball and PAC-MAN and the sibling-proclaimed king of dark clouds. [name_f]Boo[/name_f] is the older brother of the much more social [name_f]Anya[/name_f] and their middle sibling, their brother who just graduated college. His brother loves singing, being kind of popular for that as a teenager, though most of his âfansâ were Anyaâs friends, perceived as âlittle girlsâ by the brothers. His brother was the type of dude who little girls found cute but teens found âkinda cool but also cringeyâ. Which he had to learn to reevaluate his approach! By adulthood, that definitely stopped, as by no means would he fall for juveniles and tell them, âstay in your lane, Iâm not a creepâ. He can be unreasonably annoyed when people move on, because it gives the false vibe that they donât want to be in his life, but really itâs because heâs so harsh. He wasnât nice to [name_f]Mirte[/name_f] or [name_m]Zoltan[/name_m] but never explained why, but was under the guise he was right. Anyaâs kept him out of Marcusâs personal life, since [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] keeps it away from his employees anyway, and that [name_f]Boo[/name_f] would psychoanalyse. This is why he was illogically mad at [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] for not standing up for him, despite him not doing the same since they were equally quiet growing up. Then [name_f]Boo[/name_f] would act like he was[name_f][/name_f] there for [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] by pointing out those who were âuntrustworthyâ and that [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] should have âgiven him more creditâ. [name_f]Boo[/name_f] and the acquaintance are not on good terms and the acquaintance wouldnât have made moves on Booâs ex had [name_f]Boo[/name_f] been honest. [name_f]Boo[/name_f] isnât someone who forgives easily and his ex had to tell him to stop trying to get involved with whoever sheâs interested in now. He doesnât try to get back together with her, but he tends to judge whoever would until she made him stop. [name_f]Boo[/name_f] works in writing scripts for video games and despite his hard undertones, heâs not a violent person and doesnât make his scripts desensitised. In fact, he could be great at finding criminals if he tried, but heâs too set on his beliefs to do anything about it. Admittedly, heâs frustrated but misses [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], but [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] deserves to be seen as more than just âBooâs former friendâ, even if he was the closest friend [name_f]Boo[/name_f] ever had. And as most would ask, âBooâs former friend? Which one?â
