I am trying to narrow down our boy names and we like both of these. We aren’t pregnant yet, but we want to TTC number 2 soon!
My son’s name is Le0 and I’m worried that Le0 and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] sound too feline themed, or that [name_m]Felix[/name_m] isn’t really usable yet in the US.
My issues with [name_m]Caius[/name_m] are that 1) the pronunciation will get butchered here 2) Reminds people too much of twilight.
I’m really not sure these names “go” with any of our girl names, but at this point its not a huge concern. We have a lot of trouble agreeing on boys names.
The strongest contender is still [name_m]Augustin[/name_m], but I want to have at least 3-5 that we are seriously considering.
The girl names we are most likely to use are either [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] is a hipster favorite in the US, and I believe it’s popular among Latino families as well. I would say it’s very usable in the US. I’m not crazy about it with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] though. [name_m]Caius[/name_m] is cool. I had no idea it was used in Twilight.
I love the name [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and wish my husband loved it too! We have the same taste in names! Our sons name is [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and we are expecting another son [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] with the possible middle name [name_m]Leo[/name_m]! I think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] sound perfect together, maybe it’s because I love them both! I love you girl names as well! Good luck!
Definitely [name_m]Caius[/name_m] with the cool nickname [name_u]Cai[/name_u]. [name_m]Felix[/name_m] could be nicknamed… [name_m]Feel[/name_m]? Licks?
We’ve been considering [name_m]Caius[/name_m], also. My greater concern than the Twiilght connection, though, is that it suddenly seems to be trending. [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] recently named her baby boy [name_m]Kaius[/name_m], some other celebrity just had a daughter called “[name_u]Cai[/name_u]”. And, the popularity of [name_u]Kai[/name_u] in general bothers me just in that [name_m]Caius[/name_m] is more likely to be mis-spelled or confusing to many Americans who are used to the “K” version. Annoying, because it is a great name but I think we’re moving away from it for all those reasons, ourselves. [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is great. Tried to talk my husband into that one, too, but he wasn’t going for it Good luck!
I don’t think I would pair [name_m]Felix[/name_m] with [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. Besides the fact they have the very similar long e sound, they do sound a little bit funny together, just can’t place my finger on what it is. I don’t know about [name_m]Caius[/name_m] either.
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] is my favourite name btw! I also like [name_m]Augustin[/name_m]. What about [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] or [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] from your signature?

I would share your concerns about [name_m]Caius[/name_m], but think [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is a great choice, especially with [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. They are different enough from one another overall, but share some key characteristics – not unheard of but not common, sounds that aren’t repeated often in other names – that make them a great sibset. It’s true that [name_m]Felix[/name_m] has become a hipster favorite in the US, but I think it’s also a name that ages well, and could easily be worn by a small child, a teen, or an adult. Great suggestions of Fix and [name_f]Flick[/name_f] as nicknames, too! So fun! [name_m]Felix[/name_m] isn’t so much name that people will be naturally inclined to shorten it, either. At least I don’t think so.
Thanks for the responses! A lot of the names in my signature are ones my husband does not like. He hates [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] etc.
