Cal and Nate

I love both of these nicknames for boys, but husband hates all the full names that go with them. Any other names you can think of that are shortened to [name]Cal[/name] or [name]Nate[/name]?

We have:
[name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Caledon[/name] (like in titanic)
[name]Caleb[/name] (even though its pronounced differently, [name]Cal[/name] could still work for this name I think)

[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
not many for this one, and of the two he and I both prefer [name]Nathaniel[/name].

I like [name]Calvin[/name] a lot, and love [name]Caleb[/name]. Actually the [name]Caleb[/name] I know goes almost exclusively by [name]Cal[/name], so it definitely works. As for longer forms of [name]Nate[/name], I like [name]Nathan[/name]. Maybe you’d like [name]Jonathan[/name] (bit of a stretch, but it does have -nathan in it), or [name]Ignatius[/name]?

[name]Callen[/name], [name]Callahan[/name], [name]Calder[/name]?

[name]Ignatius[/name] is a great idea for [name]Nate[/name]!

[name]Callister[/name] is my abosolute favorite [name]Cal[/name] name! Others I considered are [name]Calbert[/name] and [name]Malcolm[/name] (a bit of a strech but I think it would work). [name]Calloway[/name] is another that would work. Here’s an article with suggustions of full names for [name]Cal[/name], Cal: Getting to Cal from Calvin, Callum & Calyx - Appellation Mountain
I love the pp suggustion of [name]Jonathan[/name] for [name]Nate[/name]. Sorry I can’t think of any other ideas for [name]Nate[/name].

I know a [name]Renato[/name]! Would that work as a longer for [name]Nate[/name]?

As far as for [name]Cal[/name], what about [name]Calahan[/name], [name]Calloway[/name], [name]Pascal[/name], or McCallister?

What about [name]Pascal[/name]? Is that too crazy for you?
I like the suggestion of [name]Callahan[/name].

I can’t think of anything more than what’s been suggestion for [name]Nate[/name].
What about something that sounds similar?
[name]Walter[/name] nn Wate
[name]Thomas[/name] nn [name]Tate[/name]

I love them in their shortened forms. I don’t think they really need longer names. [name]Love[/name] [name]Cal[/name] and [name]Nate[/name]!

I adore [name]Caleb[/name] or [name]Calvin[/name], nn [name]Cal[/name]! What about [name]Calder[/name], [name]Callan[/name], or [name]Pascal[/name] for the nn [name]Cal[/name]? and what about Netanel (I believe this is the Hebrew form of [name]Nathaniel[/name]?) or [name]Jonathan[/name], nn [name]Nate[/name]?

I like alot of those, Thanks!! [name]Ignatius[/name] is too crazy for me haha, my husband has the tendency to think any name he hasn’t heard of (basically anything that’s not [name]Michael[/name] or [name]Nicholas[/name], etc) MUST be made up  even if it’s perfectly legitimate and I don’t even want to know what he would say about that one even though it’s a lovely name. I might just have to convince him on [name]Nathaniel[/name].
[name]Calvin[/name] is my favorite [name]Cal[/name] name but I really am starting to like [name]Caleb[/name]… if only he didnt hate it. Maybe one of your suggestions won’t get shut down though. Here’s to hoping!! :frowning:

[name]Calvin[/name] and [name]Nathan[/name] would be my picks.

Seeing that you’ve mentioned [name]Michael[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Cal[/name] could work as a quirky nickname for either of them - [name]Mike[/name] and [name]Nicky[/name], move over.

[name]Michael[/name] - the ‘chael’ bit is basically said like [name]Cal[/name].
[name]Nicholas[/name] - ‘chol’ sounds like [name]Cole[/name], depending on your accent [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Cal[/name] can be pretty close in pronunciation.
