I’m really liking the name [name]Cal[/name] with [name]Douglas[/name] as a middle name. Siblings are [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Susanne[/name] (nn [name]Evvie[/name]) and [name]Eli[/name] [name]Michael[/name].
Can [name]Cal[/name] stand alone or is it too much of a nickname?

I think it needs a full name.
I know a [name]Charles[/name] who goes by [name]Cal[/name].
Or you could go the Titanic route and do [name]Caledon[/name].

I think [name]Cal[/name] is sweet and goes with the vintage charm style. Plus, it’s classic. But I feel it needs a full first name.
I agree with the pp, it needs to be longer but the nn [name]Cal[/name] is beginning to feel fresh again.

Have a friend with a 1 year old, full-name [name]Cal[/name]. I did wonder if it was short for anything when I heard about his birth but, once I found out it was just [name]Cal[/name], I didn’t think twice about it.
We are seriously considering the name [name]Calvin[/name] with nn [name]Cal[/name]. We like that it’s an instantly recognizable name without being very common. I definitely like [name]Cal[/name] more as a nn than full name.
I like it better as a full name. I think it needs a full name with sister [name]Evelyn[/name], but with brother [name]Eli[/name] (which itself is a nn) I think it might be able to work on its own.

I love [name]Cal[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] as a combo. [name]Cal[/name] works fine as a given name.
I like [name]Cal[/name]! I think that it’s completely fine as a given name on its own, and I think it goes well with your other children’s names.
[name]Cal[/name] is a great name. [name]Cal[/name] could stand on it’s own [name]IMO[/name].

I really like it. I am very much on the idea of breaking a more lengthy middle name with a short first name.
I have some friends there are named [name]Carlos[/name] ([name]Cal[/name]) and [name]Claudia[/name] (Cacal) and nobody ever uses their full names. I would say [name]Cal[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] definitely works.
