My best friend’s name is [name]Callie[/name], and she has a love of [name]Ireland[/name]/[name]Scotland[/name]. So I’m thinking if I could honor her, [name]Caledonia[/name] would be the way to do it. But would a child hate me for giving her this name?
Also, middle name combos would be much appreciated! Thanks
She’ll probably hate you at some point regardless of what name you choose for her, so there’s that to consider
I’m not fond of this name at all, but it could be worse. I think it’s far enough removed that it’s less obnoxious this naming someone after a contemporary name for a country (like naming the child [name]Ireland[/name]).
It’s a beautiful word, but it is very frilly and perhaps not too realistic. The poetic variant [name]Caledon[/name] might be better?
There’s also Irish Caoilinn, meaning “fair and slender,” which is pronounced kee-[name]Lin[/name]. This is the name of several saints.
[name]Cliona[/name] was a beautiful Irish pre-[name]Christian[/name] goddess.
I think it’s gorgeous (: I say go with it! It has meaning, and I’ll bet she’s the only one in her class! (:
I think it’s workable… as long as you are very okay with her being mostly known as [name]Callie[/name] or [name]Cal[/name]. Because, as a person with an odd/difficult 3 syllable FN, I use my nickname a lot even though I LIKE my first name well enough.
[name]Callie[/name] is sweet, [name]Caledonia[/name] is feminine sounding and unexpected. I don’t mind it.
It’s not my favourite long form of [name]Callie[/name] but I don’t think its unusable or bad.
I actually really like [name]Caledonia[/name], it sounds beautiful and I love the history behind it. I’m not sure how great it would be on a child… I love blade’s suggestion of [name]Cliona[/name] which has a lovely meaning behind it.
This one is growing on me. It’s substantial and I adore the nn [name]Callie[/name]. Calliandra’s another I’ve grown to like.
