Calia pronunciation

Lately I’ve been interested in [name_f]Calia[/name_f]. I think it’s pretty with a bit of a twist…but not too extreme as I’m not a big risk taker lol. We had [name_f]Clara[/name_f] in mind originally but I’m getting second thoughts. However I cant find any info on [name_f]Calia[/name_f]. Is it a made up name? And how do you pronounce it. I want Caa (as in car) Leee ah. NOT [name_f]Calli[/name_f]-a.
Would spelling it Caaleah help? Caalia? Cahlia?
If it matters I’m from the states…

[name_f]Calia[/name_f] is very pretty! I instinctively say cah-lee-ah (like car) so I don’t think pronunciation would be too much of a hassle. I don’t think Caaleah or Caalia would help much because it reads as calli-uh to me, with strong emphasis on the “ah” sound.

I pronounced it the way you want when I first read it!

I said callie-ah in my head but this one makes sense too. It would be an easy correction. I think Caaleah/Caalia would just make things more confusing.

Cahlia would make the pronunciation clearer

I can’t speak for everyone, obviously, but that’s how I instinctively assumed it was pronounced. So I don’t think the spelling needs to change. (I’m also from the US.)

I pronounce it the way you want as well. I think if it was Cahlia I’d say CAY-lia (like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]) so I’d stuck with [name_f]Calia[/name_f] and keep it simple.

The [name_f]Calia[/name_f] I know says cuh-LEE-uh (like [name_f]Malia[/name_f]). I’m not sure if there’s any spelling that makes the pronunciation you’re going for clearer, but I also don’t think it’s a hard correction! It’s a pretty name :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f]Calia[/name_f] is very pretty! I pronounced it correctly because I’ve met a Kahlea / [name_f]Kaleah[/name_f] before. (I forgot how she would spell it) but if you don’t mind correcting people, I say any spelling works.

[name_f]Calia[/name_f] would be my preference if I had to choose!

I intuitively pronounced it CAAH-lee-uh, which I’m pretty sure is what you’re going for, in the same way I’d say dalia or thalia. it’s not a made up name (it has a legitimate etymology), and I think it’s really pretty! you may get some people (teachers etc.) calling her callie-uh, but that shouldn’t be a hard correction and it’s distinctive enough that I think it’ll stick. I think alternate spellings are likely to make life harder, because as well as having to constantly correct people, she’s more likely to get a confused look from a supply teacher over caaleah than calia.

I pronounced it they way you want cah- lee a. Rhymes with [name_f]Malia[/name_f] Obamas name.

I would spell it [name_f]Caleah[/name_f] , Caleea, or Caleia. If i see [name_f]Calia[/name_f] i pronounce it calli-a, like in natalia.
